im thinking about going to this, wondering if Ł500 is enough for accomodation, dover return, diesel and a few ring laps ?

Theres a few obstacles in the way - my windscreen washer doesnt work, my car hasnt been chipped so only 130/225, basically compared to the rest of you my cars slow.

But i could bring my camera and lenses and being a 1.6 crop sensor that gives me 450mm of lens coverage...

i guess i trump you all in that it will only cost me Ł40 in fuel ? lol

hmmm

wish i had bought that m3 last month now

Whats the deal with hiring cars for the ring ?

Do you have to be a certain age... how much deposit do you have to put down, presumably your not insured for racing on a hire car ?

Which leads me to another question i dont think im insured to drive my own car abroad...fuck

Not anymore, used to be that sort of money but more like double that now with the euro almost 1:1 with the pound

Not a prob I'm staying at the ringhaus 300yards from the ring entrance arriving fri night leaving Monday lunchtime hotel is costing us Ł110 euros each for the 6 of us. Current exchange rate works out at sub Ł100 for 3 nights.

Last aug cost us Ł125 for 5 nights each.

Under the road traffic act its illegal for any insurance company to offer you insurance that doesnt include 3rd party cover in EU member states, so while you may not be fully comp covered I dont see that its possible that you arent covered at all.

Phone them and ask!

if martoon don't come, bunk up with me and share the room cost i'd prefer to pay 140 for accomodation rather than 280!

Think its a double room not a twin that Dave has booked.

So you could be up for some hard ring action day AND night

Im tempted to just sleep in my car, saves me Ł300! Surely germany have the equivalent of a b&b other than the one chip etc are staying in ? dont mind driving 50 miles away to get one that isnt fully booked if its Ł30 a night or something.

I dont think im going to go on the ring, tbh its daunting enough i would much prefer to get a passenger ride on it first and even have someone drive my car on it, ive never driven abroad or on a trackday let alone on the widowmaker!

i do however have a camera and looking into renting some lenses so i can catch you all on that famous right hand sweeping corner

Thanks you guys

I should be ok though, watch this space! I hope the bulk of it is done over the weekend. Tuesday is mapping day, so monday will be a day of running in. If it runs!

I'll let you know, but should be ok. Thank you very much folks, very kind offer. Same to Chip who has also offered to help, top chaps
