Default Getting a bolt started....

No one will probably be able to give me a solution, but it'll make me feel better having a good old rant and a laugh at other people misfortunes...

Decided to bung a DV on the Meg today, and there is a blanking plate that goes onto the turbo in place of the old standard re-circ valve, 3 bolts holding it on, all a cunt to get to, got two back in, but the third fucker is a night mare.

Can't get it started with my fingers, I can push it in the hole and get a ring spanner on it, but because the spanner will only turn 1/6 of a turn, I can't get the fucker started for the life of me, hands are cut to shreds, air is well and truly blue, and I've lost me little 10mm socket and UJ down the back of the engine

I tied the bolt to a thin bit of string so I've managed to keep hold of that. Any ideas to get it to bite?!

Fucking thing has well pissed me off, got two of the bolts in, so it's driveable and holding boost, gonna leave it till tomorrow and have another go with a fresh head.

Anyone else struggled for hours just to get one bastard little bolt back in somewhere? Will make me feel better to hear other people's misery

Always check all bolts go through a plate or whatever you are fixing
Check where possible the holes have got thread it, just because it's new doesn't mean it's threaded.
Dry run with just the bolts if possible in awkward situations to check the bolt fits and doesn't bottom out.

Start with an easy one in loosely just to get the plate or whatever in position then put the hardest one in almost all the way.
Clean / lube the threads if used bolts, nuts holes.

get the bolt and file it a little bit and put a chamfer on it. try using a ratchet spanner on it,(£30 in hafords now, instead of £70) put a splodge of copper grease or something in the hole so the bolt doesnt fall out when trying to insert.
