The thing is with things like this, is it really worth the expense? Much like NOS, it soon works out cheaper just to take the engine tune to the next stage?

or is this simply for track use

cheers james
That would never work. Trying to suppress detoantion after it has occured....is pointless. And water injection is not injected after detonation has occured. Unless whoever designed the system is completely thick.

I think the idea behind power pour is for racing rules.

You must use pump fuel, and are not allowed an octane booster.

A bit like Millers CVL. It isnt an octane booster, its a competition valve lubricant. But oh...look, it also happens to increase octane too.
So its allowed in some classes.

can be easily done on 'crappy old' weber L8 as well - it has an octane adjust input

Yes, absolutely true
Map it on the hotter fuel, and pull timing out on the wires.

If you ran a seperate fueltank, fuel lines, fuel pump, and a "5th injector" in the inlet somewhere then it could I guess.

But if you are doing that, you would be bette off with toluene in the extra tank IMHO.

Lee, no it didnt turn up but Chip did manage to do his testing and you can read about it in a magazine soon hopefully although I am sure he will give brief details on here.

As for where to buy it, We sell it mate, £15 a tin, plenty in stock.

When we added some to a focus RS engine on the rollers, we saw 2.5 degrees more ignition utilised, and an increase in power of 10bhp (4% or so)

Im going to check the DET resistance claims on my clio soon now its on standalone and I can dial det in deliberately, didnt want to do it on mike's transit as it wasnt mine to start fucking about doing that sort of thing to!

I'm doing an MLR organised 30-130 event in on 13th March, which will lend itself nicely to me finding out what my top speed is as well. I think a couple of bottles of this in a full tank will do me nicely, so will be ordering shortly

Couple of points ref this item on the webshop if I may Stu?

Piower Pour virtually eliminates detonation in high peformance ans race engines alowing the engine to safely make more power without the damaging effects of detonation. Note, This is NOT an octane booster, Power Pour does not contain any lead or propylene oxide! The item is not available at the moment.

Couple of changes needed as above, and also think it would be worth mentioning on the advert the mix ratio of a tin to 30 litres of fuel.

My standard Evo 9 ECU has good knock control from the factory, retarding the ignition depending on the fuel used or any other knock inducing factors, but I think this stuff would give me added safety... plus although having an ECU back off timing automatically is handy, I don't see why I should lose power if it does see any knock - this should keep most of my ponies under the bonnet working towards hitting the limiter in top

Sounds like Power Pour is right up my street for added safety margins

Thanks Si, I will direct James to his spelling failure when I get to work.
