Does anyone know any good places where you can by accident damaged cars from for repair?

Thanks

Best place is a salvage auction, I have been to a couple down London way.

The cars go so cheap it is hard not to buy everything you see.

It costs about 15 quid to bid for the day but you can get a years membership for that and go time and time again. You will need 3 forms of ID and a couple of passport photo's so take them with you.

There are transporters waiting out side that will deliver the cars for you for a cost. Usually they will have a flat charge for upto six cars, so the more you buy the cheaper it works out per car to get them home.

Be warned, stay clear of rear enders, it's hard to get an idea of damage and my mate has been caught out twice, repaired all the panels and painted it all up only to find it has a twisted chassis and is scrap. Plus it is all labour intesive work on rear ends, pulling welding twisting and beating to get gaps right. Front ends have more bits but tend to be an easier repair, bumpers, lights, radiators, wings and bonet etc

Also, you don't tend to find many RS's etc as they are snapped up before the auction stage by breakers, and if they are at the auction, they can get over bidded on, so don't become a bargain.

Look up salvage auctions on the internet for the local auctions, look for panel damaged motors and keep in mind how much the car will cost to put right, and work out what you are willing to spend on it before you start bidding.

It is well worth the day out at one, just for the look, keep you dosh close to you chest, some dodgy people at these auctions, just keep your wits about you and have a really good check over the cars your interested in making sure you don't buy an unrepairable motor.

A busy time of year I would imagine at the auctions as bad weather means bumped cars, so should be pleanty of choice even if you will freeze your tits off, wrap up warm as most are out doors.

Not to sure if they state whether the cars is HPI recorded, but did hear that it takes 28days to become recorded and some reach and are sold at auction before that time, some savage yards will say HPI clear at time of check, which prob means they have picked them up quick from the auction and checked them so they appear clear.

Good luck with it anyway, well worth a day out just to see what cars go for and see how it all works.

Heres a few mate:

http://www.asm-autos.co.uk/

http://www.qualitysalvage.net/

http://www.hbc.co.uk/

http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/

http://www.importcarparts.co.uk/

There you go, also worth using auto trader, using "needs" or "light" in the search. Just becareful what you buy and the price you pay though, it ofton works out cheeper just to pop down to your local car auctions and buy something, as a lot of salvage is fetching way to much money!
