Ha ha, not neccessarily the high ground, because i havent really got a leg to stand on, but, you shouldnt drink and drive (smoke and drive aswell) cos your scared of getting caught, thats not the right reason to do it and you no it as much as i do

so do you obey every law in this country then?

its perfectly acceptable to get totally pissed the night before and look and feel like shit the next day, surely that impairs you as well but as long you are under the dd limit its ok again double standards but because the law says its ok that makes it right

Cant be ass'd to read it all.

Dont take illegal drugs simple.

I know a lot of main contractors insist on random spot checks now for all site workers - Bovis Lend Lease being one of the biggest.

They can kick the people off their site if its a subby and its the individual companys issue to deal with it - although I cant see anyone keeping their job.

i love it how people who will happily have a pint abuse people for smoking or doing drugs etc.

difference is drinkings legal, still a drug and doesnt mean your addicted because you have the odd pint does it?

gaz s1 is right - double standards

IMHO you reach a junction at some point in your life.

Only you can decide which way to turn.
I suppose it depends how much your job and current lifestyle means to you.

Have worked in the oil industry since serving my time back in the early 90's and we have always had random Alcohol and drug tests. It's just part of the job. I get tested every 3yrs anyway while doing my offshore medical.

Our country Manager was pulled in for one just the tail end of last year.

Just not worth the risk for me im affraid.

Affects each individual differently if you ask me I spent from aged 16-21 smoking weed there was a good 15-20 of us who smoked it nigh on everyday.

Not one of us ever got arrested, all but one have decent jobs and all in good physical and mental state now.

The one who hasnt got a job was always one sandwich short of a picnic before he started smoking and now his 23 never had a job and is on the dole still smoking.

As said depends on the person but 9/10 times smoking a bit of weed doesnt make you some crazy fool drug addict, unless you are susceptible to that in the first place.

That said not worth losing a job over or using while driving IMO.

I don't understand why people want to have serious careers and make money yet do drugs as well. The upside of drugs is nowhere near as good as the downside various drug-related problems can do to your career.

Totally agree with Stoo.
I don't think you mentioned what your occupation was, although it seems to be office based. I guess it depends if it's a job i.e. work 9-5 and pay the bills, or if you have chosen a career in a specific field that interests you.

Options available are :-
1) Stop smoking the stuff and it's not an issue
2) Complain about the testing and quote your contract. You will probably lose and your credibility / promotions prospects could suffer. This may/may not be important to you.
3) Find another employer that doesn't do drug testing.

Depends what's important to you...

Most palces that do drug testing will do an alcohol breath test too. My company does, and the limit is half that of the drink drive limit

The answer is obvious - stop smoking weed which takes 6 weeks to clear and stick to smack which is gone in 1 day.

so half a chuff is acceptable then? as stated weed stays in your system for ages but it aint influencing you so the test is shite or is it because the government state a plant is illegal which is bullshit imo its a fucking herb!!! dont matter if you aint had one for weeks your unfit for workthen?

I aint had one since nye but would still fail a drugs test so how is that fair, i aint exactly battered am i( but wish i was lol)

thing is wether you like it or not, drug testing in work places is going to happen more and more and eventually you will have a choice, work and no drugs, or be unemployed and do drugs. Thats the way our society is going with more and more control.

Alcohol is legal and therefore government has to set a safe limit for driving etc.

Drugs are illegal and therefore the government will NEVER set a limit.

Sure if they legalised cannabis then limits for driving etc would have to be devised for legal purposes.

But i cant see them legalising weed anytime soon.
