Driving Licence Photo Updating - do they remove points too?
Hi,
I'm just sending off my driving licence as its now coming up to 10 years old and therefore i have to update my photo.
I have points on the paper part of my licence from back in 2002 (speeding twice, so 6 in total) but these are no not applicable, so when they retrun my licence with my new photo and drivers card, will the paper part be updated too and the points taken off automatically?
i know theres a bit where u can send ur licence off to hae them removed, but surely they'll do it automatically when they reprint my paper part of my licence?
One more question i've only just thought of if they dont remove the point is that I've not declared my points to my insurance since 2007 as they said theyre only valid for 5 years, which i know is true, so does it matter that theyre still written on my paper part of my licence or what? i'm guessing it doesnt matter as if the insuracne check, they'll see theyre 8 years ago now!
cheers

Im sure it was points are vaild for 3 years ( normal offence speeding etc ) they stay on your licience for 4 years, tho after 3 if you get a new licence they get removed.
But im sure most insurence companies want to know what points youve had in the last 5 years

the points are valid for 3 years ,u have to declare them for 5 years to insurance companies.
ollie, nice one! fingers crossed mine will be off then! Did u just renew ur photo after 10 years then?
hope mine come off, don't fancy paying another £20 to remove them! or they can stay on, as i dont have to declare them anymore!

20K+ Super Poster.
If they are "spent" then they will be removed, unless they have started a new agenda to screw yet more money out of the motorist by forcing you to pay.
If they are spent and they don't remove send it back and ask them to.
I just use the old ploy of change my address to my dads, same postcose and everything, when the new one comes to my dads I then just register it back.
