Default Ebay Rant

I just cant work it out, I am a bit cheeky when offering cash for cars on Ebay but im normally offering 1000 less than i could retail it for, I get a lot of good cars that way not needing much work.

Anyway i cant put a link up as it will get binned as a for sale ad but im selling a car on there thats a good sought after car other than the colour lol.

Anyway all im getting is complete cocks sending me pathetic offers and stupid part x deals. So far the most outrageous ive been offered is 3.5k or a jeep wrangler thats worth about 2k.

the cheapest of my car within 60 miles of me on autotrader is around 6k most expensive is 9k.

cheapest on ebay is 4650 but seems rediculously cheap and done over 100k with no history, Most are going for 6k again.

What makes someone think it can be bought for 3.5 k is beyond me.

heres the latest email i just received

hello?with the milage that high for a 1.8turbo i am willing to offer you 3500,seems fair thanks.

No not fair!

oh well. Rant Over.

Just wondered what youre most outrageous offers received on ebay were.

You always get people after a bargin. They try and say its not worth it cos of this & that even when you've priced it accorgingly

If it was me wanting it, I dont, but if I did, Would probally offer about £4200 as see how that goes.

When I sold grandad's Fabia, we got offered lots of stuff of pistonheads. Polo TDi, X5 & a CLK. Thats wanting to swap with a 1 year old Fabia 1.2 6v 3cyl with 800 miles on the clock. Even had no part ex, cash only due to bereavement.

No matter what you put in the advert (no offers, no part ex etccc), some people will always try their luck. You never know, the seller may say yes

if it was me i would offer 5k. which is cheap if you ask me. i think 3500 is ridiculous and 4200 could be cheapest in the country

recently offered 500quid for a 2k piece of salvage, 500 is just taking the piss, i sent the guy a message saying i would give him the car for some of the drugs he is on lol

also i hate people sending msgs for parts of the car, even though ive stated its salvage being sold as is complete doesnt stop them, again just reply to them with the value of the car as the price for said part,

I think the problem is that they all want something for nothing these days! I was selling the gfs corsa and i had a argument with lad because i would not sell it to him for a stuplid low offer. Wanted to pay £350 for a car worth a grand selling cheap at that price was giving it away. Don't know what he was on

I tend to ignore an offer that is stupid as they will be as you put it cock suckers.

What bugs me is when people advertise cars on normal car site and put 'offers' in the vain hope that someone will offer more than they want lol!! never going to happen, then get a cob on when someone offers them anything less than what they had in mind?

But yes, stupid low offers are pointless.

always use classifed adverts, 13quid for the month and no final value fees, normal auctions are too dear.

have had a lot of messers lately, 3 over xmas buying cars then not wanting them each time costs me 13quid as i cant get listing fees back which is a joke, and then i cant even leave the buyer bad feedback

i always auto reject offers at the min level i will accept.

ebay isnt as good as it used to be for a seller, but where else can you get that level of exposure

lol, its not 30-40% less than what its worth though mate...

I could have bought an s3 2 days before for 5k had 100k miles though. didnt mean to offend you if i did Dave.

Thats the thing with cars we all think we know best, i would have put youre car up for £5995 like i said i want buying it to keep it, Thought you wanted to sell quick thats all.

as said didnt mean to pee you off. it is annoying though.

not sold a car on ebay for ages now; too many muppets

i always use local free places, such as gumtree & pistonheads

bought a renault megane last saturday afternoon for £200, washed it & taxed it for 6 months and sold it by 6.30pm the same day for £440. That was using gumtree

when i did use ebay i never replied to stupid offers as that probably pissed them off - i dont entertain idiots

how much did the trader offer you then dave, If he offered more then you should have taken it.

to be honest mate they do seem to be a lot more expensive than what they was before christmas, The same sort of miles on autotrader are 7-8k nationwide so you were right to hang on.

the same day that you said about youre car i was talking to a guy that has over 50 cars in stock and he said its worth 5k in the trade.

all i did was go on someone elses price who has a lot more experience than me whos been selling cars for 30 years...

i apologise again. 8000 seems to be the right price as said there were loads on ebay/autotrader around the 6k mark back then when i looked.

Gumtree is good for cheap cars, i have just got a nice little peugeot 106 1100cc, mot'd 4 months, and taxed for 6 months, didnt run though, £130, reason it didnt run, dirty connector for the power to the ecu, luckly i am a mechanic, have done a full service plus cambelt and water pump on it, should go out around £1000 hopefully

indeed; but already its starting to get a little saturated with muppets, a while ago it was a little less unknown and you could pick up some right bargains

problem is, i think gumtree is owned by ebay wont be long until they charge to advertise cars

The trader offered me 7k mate but not enough on the 3 door to make the deal worth my while . and yeah your most prob right about that trader , but i know he will want to make more than 1k on a car or he would be wasting his time, he would put it up for £7500/8000

I appreciate your point but if you dont ask you dont get....

Rule 1 of selling a car - the price is what the price is until you're at the door with cash.

Rule 1 of buying a car - try to get as much off the price as possible before you go to the door with cash.

Not rocket science is it???

Makes me laugh when people moan that it happens back to them, just ignore it and move on.

Yeh but look at it from my point of view...

I change cars every couple of months, I like to haggle and barter so will offer what ever I see fit until I get someone to bite- generally it happens and I get what I want for peanuts.

I dont bother with traders admitidly as its a waste of time... so maybe if you made it clear you were a trader you wouldn't get the silly offers????

Just a thought

So basicly you think its ok for you to try your luck but you think its wrong when others do the same to you , lol

This is exactly why i never use ebay full of total and utter tossers ( and i dont mean you btw )

The thing with Ebay is that everyone wants something for nothing! And if they don't start off with taking the piss they don't know what they could be missing
