Default HELP NEEDED BEFORE IT GETS DARK, MK3 TALEGATE

Can some one please tell me where the ball bearing thingy is for the boot light, my boot light seems to be stuck on and alarm telling me my boots open, when it's shut,

anyone????

looks dark to me

might as well delete the post

ur problem is probably because the rear end of the car is so badly corroded, there is no catch for the boot to close onto

i thought the boot had pins on the bottom, which connect with a plate when the boot is shut. they normally get corroded. easy to clean off with some wd40 and a wire brush or similar

On the Mk4 tailgates (I presume Mk3 will be the same) the switch is located inside the tailgate as part of the locking mechanism (you gain access to it by removing the cover to reveal the wiper motor etc...)

Its a push switch activited by the lock its self but the clip that holds the switch is plastic and they can break - which can leave the switch in the "on" position even with the lock closed.

A mk3 Escort does use a thin tube with a ball bearing in it, sounds like the ball has got stuck inside the tube.

Take the black plastic cover off from the boot, i think the swich is on the drivers side of the tailgate, you carnt miss it. Its about a inch long and shiney with a wire or 2 comming out of it.
