Default Mk 6 fiesta ABS and speedo problems (HELP)

Hi guys need halep with the wifes fiesta mk6 zetecs the problems started when the abs light came on about 2 weeks ago due to it being christmas didn't have a chance to get the car looked at.
Went out and drove acr today only to find that the speedo is no longer working and the engine management light is on.
Have read a few posts online with people having the same problem but no one has posted a solution.
The car is out of warranty now by 3 months so trying to find out quickly so i can approach them for some comp towards repair. the car has done 36k
If anyone has any ideas what it could be any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a faulty abs pump or sensor.

I had these problems with a laguna and it was traced to the abs pump. The car uses the abs sensors as speed sensors, so the speedo stops as well.

My first reaction when the abs light came on was maybe snow covering the abs ring but after the speedo went wasn't sure as i have been told that there is a speed sensor on the gear box.

i would check to see if there is a speed sensor at the back of the gear box. I think it might be a good idea to get a diagnostic check done on the car. If you lived near where i live i would put it on the ford computer at my work.

the face lifted mk6 was run off the abs sensors.which in turn runs the speedo, there are faults with the sensors picking up rust, also done a few pumps cause of your problem, would advise a dignostic check to see want faults are logged.

ok guys thanks for the help will try and have a look at the abs sensors as it may just be snow interfering with the sensor if not i will get it on the computer.
It is the face lift one.

could the holding down the trip button whilst turning on the ignition trick show you the fault code by any chance, maybe saving the £30 diagnostic fee

normally a abs wheel speed sensor will just bring up the abs light.the speedometer going out normally means a fault in the module itself as fiestas with abs use wheel speed for speedo and not a sensor in the gearbox.best bet is to have a diagnostic test done at a dealers to clarify as abs modules are pretty pricey.

ps if it turns out to be a module and is just out of warranty you could try calling ford customer relations to see if they will contribute towards the repair
