Vectra SRI cdti 150 Info needed please
I need an Automatic Diesel car to use as our family car.Ideally i want something a little bit sporty and would really like a Mondeo ST tdci but they never did an Auto version and unfortunately this is something i cant compromise on . I've found a few of these Vectra SRI cdti 150s for sale and apart from being a non Ford they look quite goodand are available as an auto. Does anyone have any experience of these? I've sussed out that there are two engines available in these, a 120 and a 150 brake but haven't a clue how to tell them apart?
Any info would be good or any suggestions of anything better than the cars I've already mentioned.
Cheers Gaz

Be carefull of Auto Vectra's had a few problems with them " sell cars for a living " They suffer from water getting inside the box and wrecking the electrics in side the box , real shame as they are a great Family car

My sister's husband has one. He says it does exactly what it says on the tin cheaply, reliabley-ish and safe. No character to it though, just a boring tool for getting you about! He has had issues with siezing handbrakes on more than one occasion with it, not sure if its a common issue?

I've got Vectra C estate 1.9 120. Had a few niggles but think it's a good family car, I've heard the 120 is the one to go for BTW. Have a look at Vectra C - http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/

i have had loads of vectra sri 2.2 sri dti's,yes you can get them in auto but i steer clear of them as they don't sell well in auto guise,a nice sensible manual is a good seller though.
i have at the mo a 2.2 dti sri that does nearly 60mpg,it runs bio diesel at 95p a ltr too. i would like to know exactly how much waft a chipped one has and does it give them a better kick up the arse ???
ps i know a bloke who has around a hundred vectra taxis that he jockeys to other drivers who can't afford the car and running costs in one hit,he tells me that the 6 speed manual boxes in vectras are shit compared to the 5spd and won't do the big miles the same reliably.
i have had vectra dti's with huge miles too and they have worked fine, biggest problem of all is a fuck up with the diesel pump.

i would not touch the 1900 cdti engine just down to the fact that its a fiat engine. one of my workmates has recently changed career after 27 years a vauxhall mechanic and he has told me all kinds of horror stories re the 1900 cdti, some of which vauxhall have even asked people to keep uiet about certain issues and offered sweetners to do so, ie free servicing etc. they go like stink but have no drivintg character at all they are dull and boring and imo uncomfortable there are much better cars for the money

they also do the elite in a 150 estate as my mate has just got one and its auto but he's not a fan of diesels and also has a 3.2 elite auto. dont think he minds about fuel economy thats why he has the petrol. the estate may be for sale in the future as dont think he needs two cars
