Homemade valve spring compressor
Hi,
I was looking on ebay at the valves spring compressors and it thought that i would be easy to make one. Not that im cheap just thought twood be easy.
I got a piece of square tubing and drilled 3, 7.5mm holes in each side about 12mm apart. Then i cut out the waste and made two slots in each side, both big enough to get out the retaining collets and be able to get a small magnet in to take out the collets. Then i welded on a strong washer to the end so i didnt damage the retainer.
Then i got a strong clamp and clamped the compressor to the valve and clamped as far as it would go, with ease, and once the collets were slipped off i put in the magnet and took them out. Took off clamp and valve spring removed, oh yea quality
Make sure you have a good quality clamp as you dont want one that will let you down.
What do ye think, the total cost was 20cent.
Anyone else make anything like this?

have you made it for a CVH head . if so for £8 you can get one of these and they are just the job as you can do the valve steam seals on a CVH with the head on the car
