I had a HID kit on my old mk3 mondeo, when I switched them on they used to flicker like mad. Only way round it was to fit relays etc and wire them direct to the battery as the wiring on the mondeos just can't take it as they draw a massive current when first switched on, quite a few similar problems with other people on a mondeo forum I used to be on. I had to fit bigger fuses in the fusebox too as they kept blowing, something which isn't really advised!

The aftermarket kits are crap too, light output is pretty rubbish and they did fail an MOT. See if you can get yourself a pair of genuine xenon headlamp units, not too sure if they are a direct fit though, maybe ask dojj on here, he's the resident mk3 mondeo man!

I fitted a set to a mk3 astra, masses more light, so why did I remove them ?
These were a H4-4 kit with dip and main HID, H4-3 is halogen main, which would have been better.
The problem I found was the massive "height" difference between dip and main, get it right on dip the main is illuminating aircraft, set it for main good and dip is about 6 feet in front of car, though the mk3 astra does have shitty lights tbh.
I went back to what I had before Philips Extreme, mine are wired so dip stays on even on main beam, awsome difference for a simple bit of wire.
Though HID defo do put out more light, it also increases of course any stray light, it it becomes brighter and more dazzling, both my light units were cleaned inside on the glass but though it did help, found the Philips Extreme vastly better.
Might be worth trying some of these first ?, it's cheaper too.
