As a christmas present, i'd like to buy someone a train ticket so they can come up to Blackpool for the weekend.
I want it to be a surprise so obviously don't want to start asking about which weekend they're free etc.
Is it possible to buy an open ticket that allows travel whenever within say a 1 month period?
I've had a look around and seem to be able to find open tickets for the return journey but needs a specified initial journey.
Is there such a thing?!

Doug,
Yeah, i've had a look and can do the return journey as open but it's asking for a departure date...
Luca,
I thought you feared all things north of Birmingham as "very weird"?

Will, if you pick a ticket thats listed as a months open return, it will arrive with the time of travel it saying "anytime during......"
Phone them up rather than do it online though, just to be certain you are getting the right one.
Dont forget to get a student one if they have a railcard (but DONT get them it if they arent, its classed as not having a ticket if you dont have the railcard to go with it)
