sounds like you only had it there for a moment or so, i'd just keep an eye on everything for a while, and as you said give it a service anyway!
Ssangyongs...EUGH! lol worst things ever to drive! lol I have a few of these at work, and used to have to use one to take some kids to school from Chelmsford to Brighton, i call them the "boat", most ugliest cars ever IMO and being on a hill with the handbrake as it is in those things is just a nightmare lol

I know someone who did this in a well known Evo.... the owner made him pay for a new set of con rods that had been stretched by the incident!
most likely to of bent valves if anything though. if it goes ok still then wouldnt worry.

my mate did a similar thing with his civic type-r not long ago, having a play with his mate in a tt, on the rev limiter in 3rd which in a type-r is high anyway, went for 4th and got 2nd, we stripped it to find the whole engine fuked, 1 piston had just shattered, 1 valve snapped the end clean off, 8 others bent, head scrap as the broken valve wedged itself into it sideways, bore fuked, 1 rod fuked, new engine all back in, drove it just to find that the gearbox now whines like fuk as well.

I did a similar thing in my old Integrale, I was going from 3rd to 4th at 100mph (on a track honest ) and I hit 2nd There was a big could of black smoke out of the back and I quickly stuck it into 4th and backed off.
The car was fine afterwards but the cambelt tensioner failed soon afterwards and to this day I have no idea if it was caused by that incident.

I buzzed my primera eGT engine to just under 9k on the rev counter according to my passanger on a track day once - bit over enthusiastic on the downchanges at donington LOL - Never did it any harm, infact it seemed the thrive on huge revs!! still going strong 6000 track miles later.

like people said if nothing is wrong why worry?
and how can people say it hit 12000rpm and all that?? the limiter is there for a reason so it would only hit that!
silly mistake to make i must say haha

The limiter only cuts the fuel and stops the engine from over-revving on its own power. But in this case, the mass and speed of the car was driving the engine, not the engine driving the car.
It probably didn't hit 12k cause the engine can't rev that high even when forced. That's why it slowed the car right down. But I could well imagine it has hit around 9 - 10 k.

the limiter can not slow engine speed down when the engine is forced to over rev it can only cut the fuel/spark at any point above the set rev limiter
