The police had there final insult today, they told me at 14.50 today it had been found burnt out and where it was, i went to see it and it had gone just a big black mark so i phoned the police back and it was found yesterday at 13.30 but it took them over 24 hours to tell me, i spoke to the council who removed it and said as there was nothing salvagable and nobody had claimed the car in 24hrs it had gone to the scrap yard and obviously the insurance want it.

where theres blame there is a claim.maybe against the police for not telling you within the 24 hours?
or the council,just because its burnt out,doesnt make it any less your property ?
who assesed it as not salvageable?are they qualified to do that?
up to you,but i would contact a solicitor.

Can't you find out who was dealing with the report when it was found (which copper) and then try and find out who was in charge of removing it (within the council). Then give all details to your insurance brokers and let them handle it.
You might be good to drop a hint to both the police and council to say that your experience with them over the matter in hand has been dreadful and that you would also be seeking advice as you may not be receiving a pay out on your insurance if the insurance company can't get all they need to proces the claim
I feel for you in this matter as have been there many years ago and insurance companies then (if there any different now) took months to pay you what the car is worth to them and not what it is worth on the car market

gutted for the owner i know what you mean by what you say on here, i posted about stolen cars one some time ago it was leading to diffrent names on here then some twat deleted it i wonder why....
i remember contacting a seller on here about parts some memebrs from this site went to his house bought some stuff of him and left 2 days later all his cosworth parts got stolen

it would be worth risking a kicking off the other pikeys just to get your revenge.
You do nothing and they will think your a pussy and you might as well sell up and move as they wont leave you alone if you own nice nickable cars/goods. the language they understand is violence.
Chavs and pikeys are mostly the same, the operate on and get off on fear.
You yourself have admitted your afriad for your family if you did anything, assuming they know that, then if you did something, they would rough up family to play on your fears.
Pikeys have a reputation but thats it. they dont actually go round killing loads of familys etc because of the odd stolen car! they are clever enough to know that they run the risk of the odd kicking if they get caught. Its called occupational hazard.
