Default Fiat Punto GT Turbo

Anybody had one or experiance with one?

Me and a mate are going to look at one tomorrow for a silly price.

Any tips or hints on what to look for would be ideal!

Please don't spam this thread saying "there shite" or "utter wank"
I don't like the cars but might be able to make a few quid out of it.

i had a uno turbo years ago and it was shit hot and dame fast but it was a mk 1 1.3 but the 1.4 have been know to have piston ring trouble and making it smoke. I know of 3 that have done that . But i would still have one for the crack as there good fun for little cash and just wind up the boost abit and it wont be shy.

They are cool little cars imo, other than saying fiat on the front which is asking for trouble

Rot is the worst thing about them; get a clean one and they are good quick cars for little money

Check the back arms make sure the suspension arm bushes arnt shot. The back wheels will be sat in at the top.All the puntos in the range had new brake pipes done under warrenty cause the pipes above the few tank used to rot.My mate had one and it was chipped. We were racing a wrx impreza and it couldnt get away from us in the punto.I used to work for fiat for 6 years and we only ever had a few in for faults.

My mate used to have a GT3 in yellow and I thought it was a pretty good little car!

I was going to buy it but the slimy toad beat me to it!! Git!!

Never mind, I bought a mint Fiesta RST instead!!

As above though, they don't handle particularly well but I'm sure that could be sorted! I've never heard of them being mega unreliable though, just do the usual checks and you Should be fine.

ive owned 2 of them, early m reg and a late gt3 and out of the 16 cars ive owned theyve probabaly been a couple of the best.great performance and excellent reliability and they were daily drivers too.

had alot of people trying to put me of because it was a fiat but thay are great cars, just make sure its been looked after other wise it will cost u a bit.

I had a fairly heavily tuned one as a daily runner, loved it, never let me down and I used to thrash it quite often.

As said, rust is the thing to look for, the floors rot to shit.

Mine used to handle half decent and was quick in the dry, bit lethal in the wet, wheelspin city, great fun though, I'd have another

had one of these back in the day (so long ago cant remember but it could have been 97) and it was great fun, and for a 1.4 it was hugely fast due to weighing about as much as a family size pizza.

When they were new they had loads of problems with electrics not working and cutting out / not starting when hot, doubt that will be the case now, its just RUST you need to be looking for.

If only I could find an immaculate uno turbo (pref late 1.4 model) to stash away in the garage, loved those 80's flyers.

now iv never been a fan of fiat motors if im honest, but iv always thought these are quite cool and pretty understated cars.
a mate of mine had one for a brief period a few years ago i only ever went in it once but it seemed pretty nippy.

I think they have the potential to make a nice little sleeper, look pretty tame but they seem to be quite tuneable, just a shame about the badge in the front!

lol been years since I saw one of these or a uno.

I remember my mate had a base 1.1 uno as his first car, he sat at a junction with his mate laughing and trying to piss me and a mate off as we was sat behind, nothing was coming but they just wouldn't go/move out the way. I got fed up and pushed him out the junction with my escort and fucked off down the road.

When I saw him later he was ranting and raving about calling the cops on us

so we went back later that night and picked the back end up and turned his car sideways in his parents drive so no one could get in or out.
