Default Escort Cosworth - Everyday car??

Does anyone use their escos everyday? is it a practical car for everyday use? Im thinkin about a small turbo escos for a late xmas present to myself in Feb/March time and wondered if its worth it? Are small turbos more reliable? Any ideas/pointers would be appreciated.

theres loads of people on here who use their cossies as everyday motors - wether it be saff, escos, 3door (well, not so sure about the 3door ones ) and if looked after, will be as reliable as any other car

take care of the car and it will take care of you

kev you saleing the turbo??

my brother in law had a small turbo escort cos for 4 years never broke down once if you keep it well serviced etc.. he had a GG 305bhp covn as well.

Bit very expensive to get more power out the later engines

have you been using the rst as any everday driver??

Me and the misses use a saff 4x4 as an every day car stage 1 not a problem, as for an escort the only problem i can see is leaveing it parked up, the saff i dont care about really as it blends in well with other cars but an escort well that would be different and stick out like a sore thum, but if you get it insured right and the worst happend you would get your money back, just dont mod it and you should be ok.

Like Dunc said be prepared to not be able to just pop into the local shopping centre on the way home from work for fear of having your pride and joy messed with ! The only other problem i had with my old Escos was how small the boot is but as you haven,t got a house yet i assume you haven,t got kids , pushchairs , coldbox and the dozen or so coats that i had to carry with me to all the shows last year

Kev,

I use a 4x4 sapph cos daily and have done so for over 5 years now. Stage 1 + sensible mods, she's on 110,000-ish miles now on original engine and still going strong.

As said above, as long as you look after it, it will look after you.

Good luck.

You mean rust yeh???

I think cars rust faster when there not being used very much, or is that just me??

Also depends on how you look after it, leaving it caped in salt and dirt throught the winter aint gonna do it any favours.

Go for it before its too late.

Will be a good everyday car.

Just have to watch where you park it, but i suppose all rs owners have to these days.

Hope you get it.
