there are LOADS of aftermarket parts that dont fit cars how they are supposed to
i bet 75% of uprated bits dont fit anythin like as good as OE parts that they replace..people hardly ever moan about that.
to be honest, I didnt really think twice when i got my MSD set up and had to do this to it.. If Stu or James etc did this before you saw it,, you wouldnt even realise it was an issue i bet!
am i right in thinking its only the closed loop set up that uses this board that needs to be cut.

very true, yes generally its the more advanced software that we encrypt like this
our p8 stuff doesnt need a std board so they fit straight into those

Cant believe how this thread has turned out all i wanted was a simple answer and thats it instead i get Paul saying my little bit of handy work is a bodge 
i agree it does not look 100% but believe you me that little circuit board is under no pressure and is very very sturdy in place and just by fitting this chip alone my car instantly runs so much better cant believe it and im very very happy with it

Regardless of the product do you not think this is a bit of a "Ratner" statment insulting a customers - bearing in mind the company you work for gets a lot of work off the users on this board?

im very good freinds with lots and lots of people on here, and have been for a long time before i worked at msd
lets aim my comment at them, as i know for sure they will know how it was meant to be taken

i've seen a few ecu's where people have 'peened' out the lid so it has a raised section for the chip to sit in & still be fixed to the ecu the way it was.
for the people who don't know, this mod only applys to L8 ecus as fitted to the 4x4 saff, the 2wd ecus L1 & L6 have the chip fitted in the main board!
