Default What is usually the first thing to let go......

when tuning a YB?

Head gasket? Rods? etc....... I'm wondering how much certain parts of the engine would take before needing changing when pushing towards the 400bhp mark?

Is there a list of sorts that should be addressed, any weak links?

Cheers

very very very rare for the rods or crank to let go on a yb!in fact generally the yb lump is a stong old thing, its usually the wiring that lets it down causing melt down!

Although having said that headgasket is a weak point as all ready said and at high power the blocks get throw abit of a paddy

If used hard on a track a baffled sump is something to look at, std setup is a weakpoint i believe.

haha! Ok i didn't realize.

Do you need to do head work or cams for 400bhp?

Would you recommend using arp head studs with the wrc gasket?

Im new to Cossie's so really want to make the least mistakes as possible!

most standard sumps are not suitable for track use mate, most cars will need a baffled sump for dedicated track use

rewire is required as the wiring has prob gone shitty which causes voltage drop, even more so under load i.e at high boost!which will cause the pump to stall thus melting ya engine

Im sure it draws my current than the standard pump so will show up your old poor wiring even more.

When i changed my wiring i gained just under 2v at the pump.

the pumps are different on a esc (internal) to a saff (external)

Also a reliable 400bhp is a lot harder to get than a reliable 370ish turbo wise and reliable 400 will have potential to be easy 450 and if you have the hardware for 450 why not use it

Goodluck and welcome to cossie ownership
