Default Properly raped on car insurance!

I'm best part of 28 (in a month), been driving 10years, no "fault" accidents, no accidents of any kind in the past 4/5 years, but yet to insure a 1.8 P reg Escort worth £300 is nearly SEVEN HUNDRED QUID third part fire & theft

Nobody seems to want to accept a letter from my previous company stating I was driving a company vehicle with no accidents, so even with all my "driving experience", I'm starting at the bottom paying the sort of figures I was paying when I was a new driver in the 90's!!!!

I pay £450 FC on a group 17E car.

Admiral is who I just insured with! They did ask for proof, told them it was company provided, they told me that don't mean shit to them and would only do me a policy based on no NCB prices

Yeah, low crime area, car only used for social domestic and pleasure (no commuting) and only used once or twice a week, covering probably less than 4k a year

I used compare the market and confused last night and they seemed to throw up decent quotes for cars way more powerful and higher value than your Escort. I'm 26, company NCB and was getting quoted around 350 FC on stuff like Impreza Turbos/Leon Cupra R etc and that was with my 21yr old lass on the policy too?!

Cheers,
Grant

you could have taken out a limited mileage policy if your mileage is that low, it would have gone down alot then

Interesting piece of information for you, Admiral Group own confused.com They tried to bullshit me asking me for the same information as I had already entered, they then said they had no access to the information I submitted other than what was sent to them.

I told them they need to communicate more within their group of companies then He went quiet and said yes sir.

its probably because the car is a shitter. if you tried to insure something worth more, i bet it would be cheaper.

Thats not the recession!! thats robbery

doubling the cost takes the piss. Cant believe theres that fewer drivers versus more claims.

Try insuring it fully comp instead , and add a family member as a named driver .
I was in exactly the same boat as you when I went to insure my own car after having a company policy , I had my BMW 540 with the wheels declared and re map etc etc f/c only cost me £600 with my old dear as a named driver. It was £1700 tpft on my own

My renewal came today, been with Bell for 3 years (same company as Elephant/Admiral) and they wanted £354 for a shite 1.8 zetec focus mrk1

I have no convictions, points, claims, Good NCB and 13/14 years driving and drive for a living

I didnt pay that much more when i owned a cossie rs2k and mondie STs

Went on compare the market and best i got was £230 with some cunt i cant remember but teh co-op were £245 which suits me fine

Phoned bell for the haggling session and they offered a £30 discount so much for wanting to keep custom

Ahh well co-op for me this year

Years back, when I passed my test, in 96, I had a 2dr 1100 mk2 Escort, cost me just over 700 tpft. 3 months later I bought an Orion 1600 Ghia (non injection) and same company quoted me just over 400 tpft.

£540 fully comp comparred to £670 TPF&T !!!

Might have to cancel the Admiral one and take out the DirectLine one, but need to double check the details on the phone first - might even be cheaper if I go down to TPF&T...
