Hi I've had mine for a few weeks now, using it to type this. I think the easiest way to get music/photos etc on it is by transferring them from your computer.

I have a mac & the HTC Sync doesn't work with osx so I just drag & drop things onto the memory card. A friend got a 16gig card for his so he can have most of his music on it, he said the standard memory card is slow in comparison too.

Have you set up your account for the Android Market? Choosing & downloading apps is pretty straight forward.

Cheers,
Mark

I got a hero on Monday and i haven't put it down yet, as per everyone else im just mounting the sd card and dragging and dropping stuff to it, I cant believe the amount of free apps and games on the market, the best app i have found so far is FxCamera it has a few different modes like fisheye and an andy warhol setting,

couple of pics i have taken using the warhol setting

Looks like a nice bit of kit. Serious question....what else did you look at before choosing that model?

Is it a nightmare to transfer all contact numbers from the likes of a Nokia ? Does this have to be done manually. ?

Im ready to get a new phone anytime, still so undecided though. But an HTC Hero or tattoo are top of the list.

The Magic would be good if it wasnt a gay white. Hero is next...except for that stupid bit at the bottom of the phone.

Tattoo...unsure, I assume its the same only slightly smaller ??

I never liked the white Hero i went for the dark colour which they say is Brown but looks dark grey to me.
The bit at the bottom most have neg commented on but i have found it useful when using on my desk with the angle (to lazy to pick up )

Most things that was available on the high street at the minute - i do like the iphone the demo i got was good and he managed to show the phone off well but when i got a demo on the Hero i was blown away, this is my first real app phone as i came from the N95 8gb which at the time of purchase was a decent phone but with technology moving so fast i was kind of left behind.

I got the phone on Tuesday and i've pretty much found my way around it now minus a few small issues i still need to sort.

The issue i still need to sort is sync contacts to Google (how?? in simple terms) or just simply mass transfer contacts from phone to sim other that the long way of manually doing each one???

Ive been offered a good deal on the Hero as loyalty customer with Orange......Ł20pm, 400 mins, unlimited internet and texts.

Although Im now very tempted by the HTC HD2 on Vodafone for Ł35pm, with same except 900 mins or something ( I'll never use that though )

Only annoyance is, Orange signal is bloody crap in my house which is the main reason I was going to move away.

Anyone have any experience with mobile phone repeaters/signal boosters ?

http://mobilerepeater.co.uk/shop/pro...products_id=96

That type of thing. Expensive, but I guess its a one off purchase.

Orange did mention about some other product that boosts the signal to sokme phones using your wireless router. They couldnt say if the HTC phones supported this though.

Anyone know about email on this damn thing ?

I get work info emailed to me in pdf format, yahoo/rocketmail account

I can get notification about the email, but when I try to view it on the phone, it indicates that the pdf file has been removed.

If I try to access mail via the browser on yahoo on the phone....the file simply isnt there, although there is a paperclip to suggest the attachment of a file.

Although oddly when using the IMAP feature, did manage to view the pdf file a couple of times. No idea how.

If I go online/PC and forward the email to myself, the pdf file becomes viewable when I receive it on the phone.

But not when the original sender sends it. Cant really see what the difference is ??

ive been googling for a while, but its all over my head too lol

I did create a googlemail account, and perhaps it might work for the pdf's. But I cant seem to make yahoo forward to this email account, and still retain the email on yahoo as well.

It will forward to google....but then it doesnt go to yahoo at all. Which is all good and well, but I want to retain copies online on yahoo at all times for access anywhere via pc.
