knocking noise when coming off full lock on 4x4

Default knocking noise when coming off full lock on 4x4

have checked and double checked every thing the front is all polly bushed but just clonks every now and then when coming off lock and occasionly even after light steering and have changed both front bearings, track rod ends and lower arms
any ideas

Outer CV joints are probably knackered, put the car on full lock & drive in a circle. If the noise gets louder the faster you go its the joints at fault.

na no noise like the clicking u would expect for them mate, this is more a big clonk i no people have had problems when there 4x4s r to low just wondering if this could be the problem

I get what you mean, I get that occasionally with my Escort Cos. It feels like the front shafts are trying to come loose if that makes sense.

yer no exactly what u mean, sure i heard about removing to cer clip on the shaft to allow it to float but unsure what one to remove on the shaft

I wouldn't fit XR 4x4 shafts unless the car is very low as they're too long & causes other problems.

na def not broken spring, got some alloy adjustable top mounts might have to fit them just not looking forward to drilling to turrets in the right place

I drilled a 4mm hole through an M8 bolt in the lathe & screwed it into thread then drilled up from underneath then opened hole to 8mm from above then fitted bolt & repeated for other holes, gets the holes spot on centre as i didnt want any tolerance.

You front prop shaft uj arnt worn.I had a clunk nosie on my car every now and then and it was the uj.

how close is the exhaust to the front prop, mine used to catch for some reason when on full lock right

I won't pretend... I know nothing about 4x4 cosworths... but do they have a Universal Joint on the steering? Know mi fez did a bit of clunking on full lock when that was on its way out.

the 4wd steering intermidiate shaft is the wrong side of £100 if that's the problem, but then you get shite steering not jus tthe knock
