Default Cosworth Diagnostic Systems

Anybody know of any decent Diagnostic Systems for use with the laptop other than IAW for Cosworth ECU's l6, 8 and P8 with pectel?

Or a half descent dashboard monitor like collins or stack without the big price tag - something cheap and cheerful.

try race technology for an ecu interface they do one for nearly every ecu then use their lite software on lap top

Thanks mate,

Not looking promising as their doesnt seem to be anyone other than IAW that have an ECU interface than can transmit and data log information straight from the ECU to the PC.

Race Technology you need a data logger and/or display unit as well as a pc to get the information from the ecu becuase they dont have the facility to go from ECU straight to PC.

I find that most of the places I have tried do'nt even have the correct interface for the webber marrelli ecu's.

Darn it.

Well this does bring up a point I've never been successful finding out about - what dashboard display systems can plug into a weber-marelli harness?

Many systems plug into OBD-II and Motec etc. Who makes a dash system that can run off the cosworth loom?

Andrewg - what he says above! Race technology don't have an interface that plugs straight from the weber marrelli ecu into the pc - I've spoken to them!

Nothing wrong with IAW, I just thought there might be more systems available! Cosworth do something called the pi toolbox but it's more of a calibration/data logger than the IAW software which enables you to monitor the parameters in real time!

I also want to be clear I'm talking about dash display in car. Not on a PC. I want to plug in a nice dash like a Stack system but with no wiring bodge. Just nicely plug it in. This would cover Lancia as well. Surely there is a market for this...

My Merkur has a Megasquirt and I can see that display any time I want with my PC. again, no one makes a Megasquirt compatible in car dash display. Just one open source ugly as sin unit that display MS data only.

nobody makes one as it's all ancient stuff. pectel, who developed the comms protocol made the 'pectel monitor' for rally cars back in the day that showed numbers and bar graphs, but that was as sophisticated as it got.

much more recently rplab developed the IAW Monitor software that works with cosworths on a laptop.

the problem that you have is that the weber ecu does not have rs232 or can comms. but it would be possible, if you knew the pectel comms protocol, to convert the datastream to either to be used with any dash on the market.

Pi Toolbox wont work with the Marelli ECU's. Its for Pectels own ECU's and I bet if you wanted a copy from them it would be fooooking expensive. Its also quite complicated to use I think.
