Default help me poorly old stupid mother

mother has let he automatic mondeo battery go flat in the garage


she has also parked it under the work top so cant open the bonnet


so i need to know what the deal is with autos as i know they cant be towed


can i push it back just a few inches foot maybe just so i can get bonnet open


will it cause damage?

I thought the only thing u couldnt do was bump (not jump!) start them

Its ok to push it.

You can even tow it but wery slowly and wery short

You can safely tow an auto for a couple of miles at less than 30mph.
You will need to have a little bit left in the battery though to enable you to get the selector out of PARK, as there is a locking solenoid that is only released when Ignition is on AND foot on brake.

otherwise you may be able to charge the battery through the fag lighter socket - depends if the socket is permanently live... only use a slow charge though, or it will likely blow the fuse to the socket..

Car is nose into the garage, bonnet under the bench, starter is high on the front of the bellhousing.
Even with the car on a two-poster ramp you'd have fun getting to the starter terminal, let alone crawling on the floor in a confined space
