I appreciate that Man U are doing other things all year round but they are in the limelight and should wear the poppies regardless. Do they not see that they are heros to lots of the younger generation and should portray their support publicly as well as in the shadows. Yes its about remembrance and respect but for the likes of celebs it also has an element of education in it IMHO.

I do agree, and i think they should wear them...just like Liverpool should be. But i just think calling them disrespectful cunts is a bit harsh.

Even though United are clearly just a bunch of cunts anyway. lol

So everyone is meant to know what Man U do behind the scenes (apart from bum each other). By not wearing one they look more of a c*nt that what they already did

Not wearing a Poppy is disrespectful, regardless of what team it is!

So, for example;

if i walk down the street and a war veteran is stood in front of me with a collection tin and a box of poppies. I decide to put a pound or whatever amount into the tin but opt not to take a poppy as i just dont want to wear one, for whatever reason. Would that make me a disrespectful cunt?

Genuinely interested.

No it wouldn't but these people are in the limelight. Seen by millions of people. If I was on tv adored by fans, I would want to show my appreciation. Saying that I did anyway, regardless of tv.

Bud-weis i agree totally with what you say as i do the same, i appreciate how important this charity is which is why i always donate but its funny how none of this is said when your not seen wearing a pink ribbon on national breast cancer awareness day, or a red nose on red nose day, or seen eating a pancake on pancake day, people just looking for an excuse to moan about shit. more to the point what makes more of a difference, a £10 donation or someone having a bit or paper pinned to their shirts for the day??

Which is worse the behaviour of man utd or the celtic fans ??????

judging by the response on here you would think man utd !!!!!!!

yet in reality what they did, in hindsight was a bit misguided and they
perhaps should have worn poppys for the game ...................

however what the celtic fans did was an absolute disgrace !!!!!!!!!!!

regarding what celtic fans did or do is nothing new though! after the soldiers came home the last time they were invited to celtic park but were told not to wear their military uniform whilst in attendance!?!?!

i think this is fucking shocking and obviously just wanted to avoid the fact they had scottish/brittish soldiers present by having them blend in by wearing plain clothes!
as for the singing of the IRA songs they always sing them and nothing is said about it!

Bunch of jokers the people who have come on here just to slag united...how can you honestly think you have made the correct judgement. Yes im a united fan but i dont diss any team who aint wearing a poppy or any person due to the fact you have no idea what they do behind the scenes so cant comment.

I agree with the comment made about the poppy being a fashion statement, fuck that wear it if you want but not because you feel you HAVE to to fit in..i support all the lads and ladies who have fought in any war from these shores but i dont wear a poppy or run around complaining if someone dont...

Fucking PF self rightous crew strike again

hear hear

I dont like Man u that much but i dont see a problem Liverpool are not wearing them tonight either but they are the same as man u they do there support in other ways behind the sceans, and the people that are saying that they should because they are role models, what a load of bollocks what about all the swearing at the refs and and fighting with other players (not just man u any team) what is that teaching the youth of today it is ok to go and give a load of verbal abuse to the ref just because you did not get the foul.

I for one dont see a problem with it as when we had the lady come round at our work i chucked in a fiver and the poppy is stuck to my computer screen so i dont wear it all the time.

I'm sorry but anybody who thinks they do things "behind the scenes" excuses them from wearing a poppy is clearly daft.

Wearing a poppy is standard these days.

Ah so because its 'standard' it means we HAVE to wear one...i for one didnt but i did give some money. No not a massive amount but enough to show respect, i also have enough mates out there and serving here in uk to know and appreciated what they do, just because it has become 'the norm' to wear one i dont think we HAVE to....

When things become the norm they seem to become less important in my eyes...

Well dont to all who even give a thought to the troops past and presant, as even a moments thought in my eyes is respect.

What excuse have Man Utd got for being disrespectful then??

If they were not playing on rememberance sunday then maybe its excusable, but they were. Doing things behind the scenes (which probably never happen) does not cut it with me.

Fact of the matter is Man Utd were plain disrespectful. Argue all you want but you can't escape that fact. Nothing new though really.

Unless they were wearing invisable poppies then your trying to defend the undefendable and making yourself look like a tit TBH.

Just because the club have released a statement it doesn't make it right. Infact it looks more like a grovelling blag.

How can you even think like that...so if someone dont PUBLICLY back a campaign for what ever reason it gives everyone the right to slag them off...united and the other god knows how many league clubs probably do more for charity then anyone would ever imagine, but due to them not PUBLICLY wearing a poppy means they are a disgrace...well if thats how you feel i want pictures of your arms with all the support troops bands, the yellow cancer band, the black and white racism band, the breast cancer tag...ow hang on i bet you aint got everysingle one do you..then you must be as bad as man utd for not showing your support to all these other charities and causes....

jesus christ ITS A CHOICE TO WEAR ONE NOT A FUCKING GIVEN!!!

Being disrespectful would be actively not showing respect for the cause - i.e. saying they dont believe in the charities etc...

Not wearing a poppy is just a choice, tbh, i dont wear one, if i've loose change and i walk past a guy collecting i'll chuck it in but not interested in wearing a poppy.

The fact utd (and most/all football clubs give money/help raise funds for charities) is enough imo.

Do you wear a poppy for the little boy that died in a car crash? when someone drove into them? did he ask to be killed? did you wear a poppy for the old man the got robbed and beaten to death? did he asked to be killed? and did you wear a poppy for the women that got raped and then burtly beaten and killed? did she ask to be killed?

When you join the army you and you're said crew go out to sever this country? but what for? hell you dont have a clue. You go out to fight for your country and ask to be killed, you hold a Killing wepon that would take someone elses life away, and you go out to not be killed? Sorry but this country/world is totally wrong,

the shame is on you, but i dont say so because i believe in opinions of others..

i hate the army, i hate whats involved,

BUT NOONE CARES about the boy killed in the car crash because someone fell asleep on the motorway.. he didnt ask for that, you ask for it joining the army.

I guess you are only young in which case I'll excuse the fact you don't seem to realise that for so many of the young men we remembered yesterday, they had no choice about joining the services.

Back in "the good old days", when the country was at war fighting for its very survival, young men were conscripted into the forces - hell, they didn't even get to choose whether they would join the army, navy or airforce.

Then they got given their "killing weapon" and pointed in the direction of the enemy. And do you know that we shot plenty of our own youngsters for refusing to go?

I'm guessing that plenty of them hated the army and what it stood for but, without their sacrifice (willing or not), some of the posters on here wouldn't be able to come on here now and do their memory down.

And that's why poppy day is different from Breast Cancer Awareness day, Red Nose Day etc.
