I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
As a united fan I felt embarrassed. Martin tyler said something about it as the teams came out, was feeding the baby at the time so missed most of what was said

United defend poppy stance
Stuart Mathieson
November 04, 2009
UNITED have defended their decision not to wear embroidered poppies in their shirts for Sunday's Remembrance Day match at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.
The Reds won't be making a U-turn but insist their action is not a snub to the Armed Forces, and point to the club's unpublicised 12-month programme designed and dedicated to help our soldiers, airmen and sailors.
Chelsea, this Sunday's hosts for the big Premier League showdown between the division's top two, are among 12 top-flight clubs, including City to agree to wear the one-off jersey.
The London outfit are, of course, closely connected to The Chelsea Pensioners, who are former soldiers at the retirement home in the nearby Royal Hospital.
All United officials will be wearing a poppy on the day as they have been doing for a number of weeks since the British Legion began their run-up to Remembrance Day.
"We show our support in different ways and we didn't feel that wearing the embroidered poppy would add anything in sense of our respect for the Armed Forces," said an Old Trafford spokesman.
"Our work, and the way we show our respect, is not just a two-week thing, it is an all-year round effort.
"Only last Saturday, we had injured members of the services who have returned from Afghanistan on the pitch at Old Trafford during half-time of the match with Blackburn Rovers.
"It was all part of the Manchester United Foundation's year-round project with the Headley Court rehabilitation centre which cares for injured members of the Armed Forces."
"We send coaches to Headley Court regularly throughout the year to help. Our coaches are involved in the rehab programme," added the United spokesman.
"Servicemen from there were also guests at our Disabled Supporters Association dinner on Friday night before the match with Blackburn Rovers.
"They also met with United's amputee team and had a training day with them.
"This is just an example of the kind of work we do for 12 months of the year.
"So we do have a lot of respect for all members of our Armed Forces and put in a lot of work with them. It is not just a one-off gesture."

Why should they feel obliged to do so? At least do your homework before making idiotic statements

Who rattled your cage Mark? I just seen clips on TV and Manchester United where the only ones I see with no poppys!
What about all the people assuming X-Factor is a fix just becuase two little shits got through again, Why don't you ring the ITV and find out for them if its true?
As an Ex-RAF personal, I find it fucking disgraceful, Weather its one team or eight teams, Just my opinion! People away in the forces would be watching their team thinking the same thing as me, weather they have a valid reason or not, So get off your high horse.

Not backing them up, just stating facts as a neutral and not as a self confessed biased man united hater. I have the most respect for the soldiers, i was probably serving this country before you was born but a football club not wearing a poppy would not bother me in the slightest, they do their bit.

In that statement Man utd don't give a reason for not wearing it, they just swerve it by saying they do other unpublicised stuff. Why don't they publicise their good work? You can't help think that they see themselves as too global with all their foreign fans and therefore don't want to be showing support for the British forces. Whatever their reason, it's a disgrace.

i wouldn't have expected anything else really to be honest!
as for manchester united there has been talk of them having poppy's on their socks but i didn't notice having watched the game!
still sad though that there was no visual respect shown and what harm would it have done promote their respect more by displaying a poppy if thats the case?

I think all the teams that did it are auctioning the shirts off for charity which is another good thing the celtic thing is political as always with them being the catholic side of glasgow it all goes back to the IRA talk about living in the dark ages DISGUSTING

I think you're all being a bit over the top with this, most of the top teams spend lots of time and money on charity throughout there communities and constantly provide money, facilities and people to help out, including making sure there players visit hospitals and charities etc.
Whilst i think they SHOULD wear them, i think calling them disrespectful cunts is way overboard, considering they are showing their respects in other ways for this cause, and for many others.

Minutes silence during Falkirk vs Celtic
Celtic fans sing throughout a republican song (Aiden McAnespie) to quote "Fuck the Queen"
It's claimed they did it outside the ground in protest read into that what you will

scandal when it comes to the kits though as i think it should be mandatory, especially for so called brittish clubs to pay their respects through the media and not behind the scenes where no one knows its happening.
