Generally speed camera vans catch you for speeding, and ANPR vans which look more like this get you for MoT/Insurance/Tax type issues.

You should have made it clear that the woman is not always stood at the back of every camera van. Old women are subject to availability.

I would imagine if it was ANPR equipped there may of been a few police cars or bikes sat further up the road and you would have been pulled.
It more than likely a speed trap, well that's how it seems to work on the main road by me.

Ummmm LOL!!!!

The plot thickens, so you were driving a car with no tax or insurance?

I would think they check the person that said they were driving was insured to drive the vehicle at that moment in time. I don't know that for sure though so don't quote me on it but it'd certainly make sense.

Essentially you have been a naughty boy haven't you!

Very unlikely to be ANPR if no plod around on bikes normally.
If no plod was most likely DVLA, anpr operated by plod, where as dvla are by themselves.
Vans rarely marked with any livery,(they don't have to be), but DVLA have to put signs out advising you are about to go past a dvla camera van.
If it's spotted on the road with no tax and/or insurance some ones getting done, and all the better for it imo.

If it was just a mobile speed camera they usually allow speed limit +10% +2, the percentage is standard, the +2 or more is decided by the local governing council. So providing you were under set limit (e.g 35 max in a 30) then you should be ok.

You're going to have to stay 'clenched' for the next 14 days. If nothing comes through the post you've not been caught speeding, and the other issues won't be raised.

It's so not worth the risk driving illegally, especially over such a short distance when you probably didn't need to drive at all.
