Warning for all of you that may be looking at it, Hie will take 4150 as thats what i agreed with him, I then asked about HPI check, he said it was clear.
I then waste £15 doing a HPI check to tell me it has OUTstanding Finance.
Funny how he suggested to me to do a txt check as that does not show up outstanding finance.
What is it with these people!!!
W**Kers!
Im waiting for his response to my fairly abusive Email!

As above, good job you got a proper check.
There was a thread on here about buying a car on finance the other day funnily enough and sounds like a bit of a mindfield if the person selling isnt trustworthy!

I'd give it time, it could well be settled. I bought a vectra and i wrote it off. Come insurance time they said it had finance on it.
It ws just that experian hadn't bothered their arse to remove the marker.

its a log book loan, you give them the the log book they give you the cash and register it on hpi as finance, thing is them having the logbook is not foolproof as you can ring the dvla and since you have owned the car you have never recieved a logbook so they would send a replacement and not charge the fee. gotta be so careful

i have had people go on to me about log book loans,i think its all bollocks meself.
regards finance showing i have had loads of cars show on finance that have come from main dealers and the transaction happens so fast the finance still shows even though its all being sorted out between the owner/dealer and finance co.
just contact the finance co who's number will show on a proper check and sort it out. i have done that and had no grief and got what i wanted.

Honestly cant see any bank giving out a loan and using a car as equity!!!!!!
Surely there is a way to find out what exact finance is owed on it.
Mate of mine is a salesman in a dealership and all he does is just makes 1 phone call with a registration and he knows about any finance owed on a certain car.
If you know anyone in motor sales i'd ask them to help you out with it

i purchased a car nearly a year ago. i called Log Book Loans directly and said id like to settle the bill, the lady said you dont own the car i said i do now and would like to settle the balance in full right now, she said ok lol
she advised me that £800 was outstanding i put the phone down immediately.
i then negoatiated with the seller that i would pay Log Book Loans the £800 and take it off the agreed price, so if you call them and use this tactic you can at least establish how much is actually owed on the car.
