ive got hold of a new shape fiesta with auto h/lamps,where is the sensor for these? ive been told its built into the screen but there is a dome shaped sensor on the top of the dash,is this it?

Dome shaped bit behind mirror(look for a 5mm hole with a tiny black led type looking thing in it, this is the photocell), the sensor if fitted at lower screen is the rain sensor.
The system can be disabled though if wished.

I think the dome shaped sensor on the dash is for your air con.

 

Look through the windscreen where the rear view mirror is mounted, you will see two clear looking LEDs these are the rain sensing elements.

it'll also have auto wipers as well then i'd have thought

it's a light sensor behind the inside mirror and, if you were to require a new windscreen you'd have to tell them it's got auto lights as the screens are designed differently with no heater element there and the darker colours there as well

the seonsors tend to rip when they come off though so if you did need a screen make sure they remove it VERY carefully
