Drenth, Tractive, Sellholm, Quaife or Elite all make good gearboxes, some take power better than others but you don't need to fit a 10k gearbox on a 400-450hp engine

I know of someone who may be orgainzing a bulk order of the Quaife 60g box which from what I'm told it a very good piece of kit.

http://www.quaife.co.uk/60G-6-speed-...HT-CUT-gearbox

Prices will be very good

that 60g is a very good box, and quite a conservative rating on it, as er most quaife stuff.

I heard recently that used Hollinger boxes from the Aussie V8's are getting sold after so many competition miles, think they are in region of $10000AUD which is about 5000GBP just now.

If they can hold up to the Aussie V8 racing they will be fine in a Cossie..... fuck knows how you find them though.

You will be lucky if it is ready that soon, spoke to Quaife Friday.
Can also be used with geartronics paddle shift (60g can use it also).

I do a bit on a mk 2 with a 60G, we looked at all the options mentioned and even with my reservations about quaife, the box is fantastic, lovely change and of course you can use a off the shelf bell housing and for us meant we could take the original type 9 as a spare.....

Drenth and Selholm MPG box are essentially the same unit....tractive is fantastic but very pricey....

No experience with the elite.

Apart from the lousey customer service, the quaife option does make sense....

ians hit the nail on the head here, quaife one would make sense if there sales were any good, elite were an even bigger waste of time and the product does have a few development issues[pig has been doing r and d for them]i bought the tractive one, well pleased so far

You do get what you pay for at this level ,if youre just ticking the bullshit box by fitting a sequential gearbox then your stuck with agricultural units like these ,the quaife boxes still use a Male/female dog gear that makes re-builds expensive as its the gear that wears out,the Elite at least uses Dog rings and has the benefit of "Drop Gears" to give final drive ratios without the need to change your diff but the change is slow and then you need a bell housing etc...
If youre thinking of competition you must also remember most championships take a dim view of sequential boxes as a retro fit and boost you up at least 1 class if they let you use one at all !

i went out in a rs500 last friday, its 550hp and 100hp nos, it uses a glebe h pattern dogbox, with frozen and "hyper polished" gears, he gives it greif all the time and its been really good apparently i think he said it was about 3k, maybe worth thinking about for a proper box

The 60g has turned a corner for Quaife in terms of quality and functionality, they've also in the last couple of weeks taken delivery of a latest generation gear hobbing machine too, that should see further improvements, particularly in gear geometry elements which in my experience have somewhat blighted them in the past.
