My old 3door had done over 6k on its 500+ engine with given it a good old blasting alot , & the engine is still sweet as fuck & very quiet!! no tapping just purring away.

As said above,, if built right first it will last longer, mine was built by cossedave from bristol.

Doug Stirling got 28K out of his SCS T4 500bhp or so engine IIRC

That was road use only, lots of "fairly hard" journeys with the occasional absolutely flat out blast.

Obviously on track you wouldnt expect anything like that.

Do you mean Dave Pritchard?

If so that who built Doug Stirlings latest engine, and thats going very well with no problems at all.

I built my gt35 engine I used the car for work ,Santa pod, quite alot of track days .I ran mostly 2.5bar boost and 100+shot of NOS and the only reason I have had to rebuild it is I buzzed the engine on track I had done 31k on this engine the only problems I had were an oil pump drive fail at 10 k but I caught it straight away and an alternator fail.I put the engine logevety down to a 7.5ltr sump and oil changes at 3k religiously.I am currently building a bigger power engine as I was so impressed with my last one.I can say I was a bit anal whilst building my first engine so that may have helped

build it and map it right, and look after oil pressure and temps, and it will last incredibly long!
