at the bottom of the picture to the right is your check valve (long silver compression fitting.if you follow it down find the flexible stainless braided hose (filling loop ) which is connected to your heating return pipe. there should be a valve from the cold water pipe just turn that valve and watch the gauge .fill to 1.5 bar.

You set pressurised systems to 1.5 bar, common practice.

set to 1.5 bar on a pressurised system (makes it more efficient), and the fill is off the compression fitting on the right off the braided hose as said.

wouldnt worry about it too much, boilers have a blow off valve which releases water if the system pressure gets over 3 bar.

they shouldnt really need topping up, you could have a very minor leak somewhere.

go into a plumbers merchant and ask for fernox leak sealer. get the one you can inject via the filling loop. with your system pressure at 0 inject the fernox into the system then top up boiler pressure to 1.5 bar. should cure your constant topping up. done this to my aunties system and its been good for the last year

It's a rented place, so I'll nag the landlord, he's the tightest shit I've ever met, even with me and he's been me mate for 25 years!!
Bloody door handle fell off tonight, so more expense I have to try and get out of him, thanks for the advice I heard of fernox but thought it was a cleaner stuff for the system!!

they have a system cleanser aswell as all sorts of other stuff for central heating systems.

good luck with the landlord, never met one that likes parting with cash.

out of interest, what will it do if the boiler is used at 0 bar pressure, not sure how long it had been at zero as only pulled down the cover to look tonight - i still had hot water and the radiators were hot

only symtom i had was one of the radiators upstairs was warm'ish rather than hot

nothing mate the boiler will simply lock out looks like you just caught in time, check that the rads dont need bleeding and recheck pressure afterwards
