Default universal lamba

hi mate just wondered if u could help, am just finishing of my car and trying to wire in a universal lamba just to run a afr guage, was also looking to plug the origianal lamba loom into it the car is a 1992 sapphire, problem i have is the universal lamba is 3 wires 2 white and 1 black, do u no what would go where to the origianal loom

It'd be pointless, the original sensor is a narrow band so would only read between say 13-16.

Edit to say: I think theres a Wideband off something stupid like a Passat you can use. HTH

sorry im lost lol so a universal 3 wire is no good ? is the origianal not a 3 wire

Do you want to run Closed loop as well as a afr gauge?

i will be but got to by new turbo, injectors ect just got car up and running so going to drive around on t3 and greens for a couple of months

Black is always signal, the two white wires are for the heater circuit of the lambda, one to earth one to live 12v with ignition on, the sensor if three wire earths through the exhaust.
What are your loom plug colours ?

not sure will have to check but the car is a 92 4x4 if that helps mate, so is it right that a cossie runs a narrow band sensor and a universal wont work then ?

So is your ECU currently running with a lambda sensor? are you still on a L8 ECU

yer still on l8 but when i got the car it had a different turbo and exhaust and no lamba fitted

think your going to need a wide-band lambda sensor for the afr gauge pal

That is a narrow-band so i would not bother with it tbh mate.
