i'd rather poke my eyes with cocktail sticks than drive a 2wd escort cos
maybe if someone took me out in one i would see it different but i know how my 2wd cossies went and they were shit in the damp wet and slippy conditions and my escort is none of that
cheeRS.

drive a 2WD sapph m8. thats probably the best way to test it as u will use most of the parts from one. ive been in one. and i thought it was good definatly looks cool with the back wheels smoking up but it was very tail happy. depends on how u drive.
my driving style prefers 4wd as i like to go really quick down B roads etc. but if ur into greasy roundabouts and donuts. DO IT!

surely if your into driving fast and safe around roundabouts you get a 4wd ??? i can see it now m-sport going 2wd with the wrc cars cos it looks good smoking up the rears and laying 9 grand out on the rev counter.
no 2wd cossie looks better showboating than a 4wd one driven properly.

not at all = shitting your brick looking through the passenger window more like
RWD is fun and thats why I love it.
I very much doubt you can fishtail a good few hundred yards down the road in a 4x4 making all the pedestrians run for cover I loved it

I have built 3 now and love them ,
They arnt as snappy as a 2wd saff due to shorter wheelbase , infact you can give them it large on the track and will stick with a 4x4 no probs

I can remember it getting a bit fruity five up in the wet as the cams had their second wind and it lit the tyres up at 125mph in the top end of 3rd gear (3.36 gearing) .

RWD = fun/dangerous in anything other than perfect dry for your average driver (and lets be honest 99.9% of pF drivers are average and not the drifting gods they make out to be ).
4wd = fast/safer
Id rather have 4wd knowing i will likely have a car that i can drive through a wet winter and likely not have smashed it up going backwards through a hedge/wall/shop window etc. Where as with a powerful RWD car most drivers would end up either having to drive really slowly (wheres the fun in that? ) or accept the fact you either cant drive it much in wet or accept the massively increased chances of bashing it in.
We are after all talking about almost 30 year old suspension/handling design with NO driver aids. a RWD old ford is not like a modern BMW with all the driver aids that mean even a old lady can drive in the wet and not die!

plus you can get 4wd cars sideways just as much as a RWD. Just takes a bit more effort thats all!!
In the wet i very easily can get my 4wd car sideways out of junctions and on roundabouts just being an idiot with the loud pedal and steering wheel
So 4wd can be just as fun.

Sorry but i would love to see a 4x4 saff with lets say 300bhp go sideways the same as a 300 bhp 2wd saff

sideways is great fun, but when u just wanna go for a drive with skyline's and rx7's etc the tail out antics gets abit old when u just wanna go quick. 4x4 is alot faster, although more fragile. it depends what u want to do.
and i can spin all 4 wheels in first and second in the wet in a streight line. so a 2wd must be to much when u have big power.

you should of said flipping road cars.
that video proves though that a 300 brake 4wd cozzie can go sideways and smoke the tyres easy just like a 2wd if your a proper driver with good kit.

all about the fun factor for me. If it puts a smile on my face its a good thing. couldnt give a monkeys who is faster in a straight line or round a track - if its fun its fun - fuck everyone else!

to be honest guys i would leave it 4wd if it wasnt for my gearbox shitting itself all the time & this is the only thing pushing me towards rwd. What sort of power can a standard t5 box handle?
