T5 will do 450 easilly.
I think people get mixed up over a car that can cover ground quickly round a track and something thats fast on the road in normal situations i.e up sliproads on the motorway etc.
My 2wd 3dr was obviously much faster on A roads and anything that you could get to the top of 4th on a T5.
My escort is basically a standard small turbo with uprated brakes and is far quicker point to point on a country road...................
I'm still gonna rwd mine i think just to see whats its like probably with the standard small turbo T28

I converted my escort years ago as I couldn't be bothered with the transmission issues and it is actually quite hard to get it to go sideways through the gears it feels awesome as it doesn't wheelspin through 2nd and 3rd like a saff or a 3dr.
Off roundabouts yes you do have to feather the throttle out of bends as there is more power at the wheels but its a lot easier to keep it straight than a saff.
People comparing 2wd esc's to saff's and 3drs are wrong they are completely different.
I've been in a few escort cosworths and TBH none have made me think fuck why did I RWD mine but the people that have been in mine always go home thinking I'm gonna convert theirs

Thats Ian's car it was a 20k mile concours car that he converted
You can see he's holding it on the brakes in the vids he had a bias valve/cut off to the rear brakes.
I'm not saying its for everyone but I can't be bothered with the transmission problems.
But Andy (rsnissan) might be interested to know that it was a small turbo car running a ggr305 conversion
