Default what to do?

the rough details are as follows:

my dad's mate
his daughter has just passed her driving test
pestering her old man for a car
a new car
he buys her a car
a new car
insures it
£3k for her as a named driver on his car
second day out, she punts someone up the arse, smashing the shit out of both cars
her old man, not wanting to blemish his unblemished accident record, agrees to pay out of his own pocket for the repairs on the other car
then he finds out the other driver is not insured
now he doens't want to pay out for the damage his daughter has caused

is he right?

is he wrong?

He's entirely wrong, but I support him - let the uninsured driver enjoy a taste of his own medicine.

And tell the daughter to pay for her own repairs now!

I agree, don't pay for the uninsured driver and make sure the daughter pays for the repairs.

Bit daft buying a new driver a brand new car though!

do you really have to ask if its morally right to pay for an unisured driver car?

i was reversing off my drive ages ago when some know stopped right behind me to answer his phone. i didnt see him and bang, put a dent in the door shut of his shitty celica.

told him to get a quote, then found out he was unisured. got told to fuck right off and go tot he police if he felt he wanted to take it any further

it's been about 2 weeks and he's started to buckle under the pressure

i've told him to simply tell the police and let them deal with it

sue the unisured driver, for the crash, legally shouldn't have been there, so she wouldnt have crashed into the car!

The unisured driver doesn't have a leg to stand on, tell him to do one!
