Default Importing cossie from Hong Kong

I found this in Hong Kong web site, that's about £5500 included a spare engine and gearbox.

Has anyone imported any car from Hong Kong/Japan before??

How did you get to 5500?

I would imagine thats US dollars mate.

Its also not in Hong Kong, its Macau which is similar to Hong Kong and a very rich place so I expect that its more like £40K.

I think the op has calculated it right, if you look at the ads at the side there's a cooper s up for $160,000 odd and a Toyota people carrier thing for $600,000 odd so hong kong dollars looks a good bet! Could be a bargain, as long as all the import prices are reasonable.

His was from Singapore. There is a guy on escortrscosworth forum that got his from hong kong for about 5-6k and shipped it home. They are not worth much in other countries. Only Europe who still pay alot of money for not alot of car

just make sure its put in a crate witht he spare engine and gearbox strapped to a pallet, else it will turn up dented lol

£1 = approx HK$ 12.5
