Bed Mattresses
Im about to get my first ever new mattress but don't know whats best, foam, spring, etc.
I dont really want to be spending more then £150 for a double mattress.
What do you have, how well do you rate it for comfort, where did you get it and what did it cost.
Thanks.

I reckon Sealey is best, but Silentnight are good too.
As said above, you won't get a great mattress for £150 and remember that you will spend a third of your life on it for the next 5-10 years so it is worth spending a bit more on a good one.

I spent over a grand on a double bed and it was crap. I think it was a Sealey, double sprung all singing all dancing.
I spent 249 quid for a double bed for our spare room and it's fantastic. Try them all at the shop.

I've gone memory foam and found it's helped my back problems a lot! And, it doesn't squeak and make loads of noise when you're entertaining the ladies - or men in your case Tim

From my humble experience I found memory foam to be bloody hot. It really warms up once you have lay down for a while. Much to hot for me, but like everyone else, would advice you go and try em all (but avoid Dreams as they will royally rip you off)
I have a dodgy back, so asked the osteopath man his advice re mattress. He said whichever one was the most comfy, hard/soft/foam/sprung none of it made a difference. I must stress, this was his advice to me and he seems to know what he is talking about.

I went for a half memory foam and half normal foam for around 250 quid, been spot on.
I know it is a sod but mate, you spend so much time on a matresse why get a cheap one that will be spent in a year and lumps as fook.
shop around, some good deal to be had.
ps the one i got came rolled up like a sleeping bag, cut the airsealed bag open and it expands to correct depth - made getting it home a doddle.

Divan Superking base, Memory foam mattress, all singing nd dancing, Full leather headboard, insurnace for 10 yeras ect ect.......Was up for £1300....got it for £1020 all in at Dreams....
if you dont want to spend more than £150 on a matress you are pissing in the wind....good matresses are £800 plus

Either go for "Pocket Sprung"....the more pockets, ie 800/1000/1200....the firmer the bed.........
Memory Foam is good, but again, you will have to get one that you fine firm enough for you as there are lots of different types.
Like someone said, spend an hour in a GOOD bedshop, they will be very helpful

yes, 6'6" long & 6' wide, great for taller folks! we have a king in the spare room, i can't go full stretch without having my feet against one end & my head against the other end, the superking in our room is mint, i can stretch out properly & if the kids get in with us in the morning then theres a lot more room.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I got a Memoryfoam King sized 10" deep one from Ebay for ~£170 delivered. Took a while to get use to and was a little hard at first. Now its worn in though its darn good! Getting sheets for 10" deep one is a bit tricky, if I were doing it again i'd get 8" deep.
Here's the weird thing though... its the opposite to a normal matress. Its not a sping, its a damper. There is no bounce! which is odd for a while. The other problem it creates is that when your really tired and fall in to bed and fall asleep instantly, you'll wake up in the same position you fell asleep in, which is normally not the most comfortable! you need to wait a few mins for your back to straighten out a little and it to warm up, then reposition yourself.
If I were to do it again, I would, but I'd go for 8" deep. Incidently, I've still not bought a bed...... after a year......
JAmes.
