mk2 rs2000 not run for 2 years as advice
i have decided to start my mk2 rs2000, its been in a garage for 2 years and not run up.. any advice about best way to start the engine..
1. i am going to remove the plugs and put some oil engine in the bores (was going to redex but dont know if its any better)
2. turn the crank over by hand.
3 . change oil, water , and top up the fuel tank ( super unleaded).
4 turn the engine over with coil disconnected.
5 if all ok fire it up with coil connected and run .
any comments or advice , or steps it may have missed??
thanks

That doesn't sound bad but I'd be surprised if it will pull the fuel from the tank. I've got a 3.0s Capri in my garage and when it hasn't been started for a year or so I have to run a line from a jerry can straight to the pump.
Once it's fired it has enough fuel in the carb to pull it from the tank and I reconnect the standard fuel line and fire it up again

depends on the condition of the engine etc but could be worth throwing in some new plugs and some fresh oil but ideally the old oil is meant to be warm before you drain it so the techies say.... just remember not to do what some prats do and start it and immediatly rev the nuts off of it cold, seen that happen before and its not healthy to say the least. sorry i cant help much more than that to be honest

The reason the oil needs to be warm is so that it's easier to drain because it's thinner when it's warm.
It's a good point about changing the oil, on my capri I started it on the old oil (after cranking it until I got oil pressure) let it warm up on idle then dumped the oil out of it.

thanks for replies.
one further question is it worth putting "engine restorer" in the oil, or is it a total waste of money..
will post some pics the only ones i got are on paper ( thats how long since its been on the road)
