That doesn't sound bad but I'd be surprised if it will pull the fuel from the tank. I've got a 3.0s Capri in my garage and when it hasn't been started for a year or so I have to run a line from a jerry can straight to the pump.

Once it's fired it has enough fuel in the carb to pull it from the tank and I reconnect the standard fuel line and fire it up again
