A mate of mine has the eBay one on his cossie and had to wedge the thermocouple bit into a boost hose but it seems to work well but he had a guy off eBay say the metal thermocouple could break off and go into the engine and that they are designed to be fitted to computor cabinets not cars

Got that in my Cossie - superb little gauge and accurate too and fit perfectly where the dashboard light dimmer used to be (had to file 2mm out of the hole and cut the little fins off the gauge case) - I'll get a pic if you want?

Although I didn't fit the sensor as he describes in the instructions, I modified a BSP tail fitting to house the sensor in allowing the probe to protrude about 5mm into the plenumn. To do this I filled the BSP fitting with Sikaflex and then pulled the probe through it wire first and then crimped the tail fitting to secure the wire to stop the probe being blown out or sucked in under boost/vacume - The sikaflex cured to creare a perfect air-tight seal and a nice finish with the sensor now being easily removed with a 12mm spanner

You can also get some from www.dealextreme.com that will tell you inlet temp and outside temp, as well as clocks in various different colours, for around £8-£10.

I've had one these monitors and they work ok but not with water injection (it goes blank). I discovered its actually a PC temp monitor that runs on 5v so you could just get a monitor from here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Digital-Thermo...d=p3286.c0.m14
and then build something that will lower the voltage from 12v to 5v (this is exactly what you get when you pay £35 plus for ebay ACT monitor)
I would have been happy with the ebay jobbie if it worked with Water/meth injection. So in the end i got one from Mike Rainbird. Its expensive but it is a quality item:

I got mine from mike also, Great service and would recommend to anyone. I got constant emails and updates to my order. I even changed my mind about the back light colour and he sorted it all out no problem. Fits and works perfectly.

hello all
can anyone give me examples of their before and after temps,i have fitted one of those act temp gauges, and not sure how efficient my intercooler is going to be,i have just rebuilt engine ,therefore i can't try on boost yet,but normal driving it reads approx 31 before and 14 after.does this sound about right. In in a dax rush by the way, with a non standard intercooler, which i had made
thanks matt
