How much per eye was it mate if you don't mind me asking, and where did you have it done?

Always wondered about this.......

right another laser eye surgery topic so lets see if someone can answer my question this time

once you've had the surgery do they say what chance you have of losin vision again?or is it just like you're back at square 1 in life and they may deteriorate over time?

my main Q is...if you have surgery once and say your eyes deteriorate again, is it possible to have surgery again?

Essenaitlly its like having a prescription put on your eye. It will (should) get you to 20/20ish immediatly afterwards, but after a few years, if your eyes deteriorate, they may need doing again, just like when you have to buy some new glasses after a while cuz your eyes have got worse!

Yes it is possible to have enhancements, they just lift the flap and add another treatment, depends on your eyes though, if theres not enough tissue left, they may not!.

I was due to have an enhancement, but decided ill leave it a few years, just incase they deteriorate, they reacon got enough tissue left for one more treatment (might aswell save it just incase!).

They will get worse over time as your lense will change shape.

The time will be different to each person.

I've never sussed out why they price it per eye!!

It aint cheap, it's costing me Ł2800 for the all singing all dancing wavefront effort, but you've got to really as they're quite important the ole 'mince pies' !!!

"To obtain the 'per eye' price, simply halve Ł2800"

Although, having 24 months interest free credit!!! so not too bad!!

had it done at ultralase in guildford at about half four this afternoon..

Phil, no they don't......

I'd love to have this done but my other half is worried i'll come out looking like that bloke from the goonies.

I was told that before they will do it they monitor your vision over about 2-3 years to access if your eye sight is still changing, they will only carry out laser eye if there has been no movement in 3 years.

you do have to have a stable prescription i.e last couple of eye tests roughly the same.

best thing to do is book a consultation mate - it's free and there's no obligation to have the treatment. They may find your not suitable.

my eyes aint so bad but ive noticed they gettin worse for sure.i only wear glasses for drivin but its gettin towards the point where i should wear em all the time but i find it a pain in the ass!i got contacts which are a fookin knighmare!they are ok for a while but then my eyes get dry as fook and get fuzzy vision.if i wear em while at computer or whatever my eyes just hurt n get fuzzy again

i fancy the thought of surgery but wasnt gonna consider yet if its a 1 in a lifetime chance because my eyes aint real bad yet.

1. Couple of sets of eye drops

2. one eye gets covered up, lie down on the bed thingy.

3. eyelid holder open gadget goes in.

4. Suction ring wotsit fitted, bit uncomfortable but ok just like pressure on your eye ball.

5. cutter gadget gets fitted, which is electric and slices a thin flap from the front of your eye (sounds nasty, but it's just uncomfortable again) - worst bit over!!

6. bloke flips the flap and cleans everything.

7. look at the red light, laser does its stuff in two very short stages. (you can smell a burnt hair smell slightly)

8. bloke cleans again, flips flap back over, put a big protective contact lens in.

thats it!! B bout 20 mins if that!!

you can't feel anything from the laser bit, the rest of it I would describe as uncomfortable really, nothing worse!!

vision is a bit blurry to start, and once the anaesthetic wears off, they do sting a fair bit!!!!

not too bad now, and can see a treat pretty much!!

the flap is held in place for a week by the contact lens!!

loads of drops is all you have to do really, have to go for a checkup tomorrow, then next week when the contacts are taken out. Once again at the month point and again at the 6 month point!!

If any thing is found you have up to 2 years free adjustments if needed!!

Are you sure you are wearing conact lenzes, They did not use them on the wife but she had to wear glasses for 2 weeks to stop any muck going in her eyes.

all good kev

im very interested in it all now like but worried after edd's comment above...im worried my eyes aint "bad enough" to warrant the surgery.dont think my prescription is *that* bad but need my glasses on to really see things properly

might investigate cos the 2yrs interest free option is a bonus
