I've just come to intall Windows on our PC, having installed a new hard drive and upon entering the product key, I've realised that I've installed XP Pro, but my key is for XP Home.

Is there anywhere online where I can buy a key immediately? I know they come up for sale (legally as far as I know). I really could do with finishing this installation off tonight.

Come on, someone must know.

If not, where can I download Windows XP Home? I assume thats not illegal? It's the key thats the important bit, right?? And I have that.

I don't have torrent software on here, so a direct download would be handy.

Whats the difference between XP Home and XP Pro??

where did you get pro from? theres still 2 versions an OEM/Retail Version and a Corporate version. If youve downloaded it off the net its probably a corporate version and the XP keys people have wont work on it!

easiest thing is to download XP home off the web and reinstall with that, its not illegal

downloading the media is not illegal, but frowned upon. It's unlawfully obtaining the CD Key that is illegal.

BTW xp pro corporate is the best copy to have, as you do not need to 'activate' it

It's a CD. I don't have it here with me as I am at work, but its a goldy coloured disc.
