Default What bit rate to rip CDs at?

I am looking to rip all my CDs to my laptop, and get a iPod and use it in my car.

I have a pretty good stereo setup in my car and can notice the difference between genuine discs and downloaded music

What bit rate is best to use? Don't want to go too high if its going to take up more space but not be better. So at what point do you stop to notice the difference?

Cheers

you could try ripping a track at 128 or 192 and listen to the difference and decide from there to guage what suits in terms of sound quality and space
I think most of mine are around 192kbps

Highest possible especially since you said you can tell the difference, although you shouldnt be able to, whenever ive done copys on my pc of mp3s that are 128 and over the quality sounds like a shop bought cd to me.
