N97 Mini... any views/users?
i was looking to get a n97 on the weekend, then noticed there is a "mini" version coming out in october
so though i would hold off and hope the "mini" reduced the normal one for me
just wondering if anyone has seen/used the mini and comapred it to the normal one

I'm going to get the N97 in October when my upgrade is due so I'd be interested to hear how you get on with either the normal one or the mini one.
I went to Phones4u at the weekend to try one out & was pleasantly surprised how easy the touchscreen was to use whilst txting.

Everything you need to know http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum...ad.php?t=67122
If you decide to do it you will need the code which you can get from the same site http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum...ad.php?t=58225
You need the Euro code but make sure its the n95 8gb code, NOT anything else or you could screw your phone up!

Ive got the N95 and tbh its been great. Few frustrating things like it wont charge from the USB cable and other minor oversights but otherwise awesome.
im due an upgrade mid january so the N97 sounds ideal, shall look forward to hearing how people get on with it.

Thing is, is the size going to make that much difference to it really...its hardly that much smaller is it?! Depth - 15.9mm vs 14.2mm (1.7mm diff) Width - 55.3mm vs 52.5mm (2.8mm diff) Height - 117.2mm vs 113mm (4.2mm diff) Weight - 150g vs 138g (12g diff)

I have had an N97 since it arrived!
First one had a fault with the camera and was replaced eventually!
The phone is very good but does need some work to get is running correctly!
The main issue it has is that everything is pre installed on to the C drive which only has around 75mb. You need to uninstall all the apps, format the mass memory, update the firmware, do a hard reset and install all apps back on the mass memory. You then need to make sure any future apps you install also go on to the mass memory.
Here are one of the many article which talk about this:
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/TheBartender/6672
The next thing to consider is what else should you put on the mass memory. Photos and videos are by default saved here. Sounds good but then what happens if the phone becomes faulty. You stand a chance of loosing it all and/or some fooker at the nokia repair centre looking through the naked pics of your bint .
Hence why I got a 16GB (class 6) micro sd card and have configured all my photos, videos and text messages to be saved on that instead. Unfortunately contact info is saved to the c drive by default and currently cannot be changed.
16GB Class 6 card can be got from here:

Also the N97 has an issue with the camera lense being scrathed by the sliding cover. Both of mine have scrathed - a stupid design fault Nokia ignored....

debranded my n95 8 gig at the weekend .. very very easy to do ....
had my 97 for around a month now, really nice to use, not fond any real issues with it, came as a unbranded fone with an orange sim so might be the reason why orange couldnt get their firmware to work with it
