Default Fuel gauge & sender match

Hello, can anybody assist with my sourcing a compatible top mounted sender/syphon twist fit for an 8" deep Ford tank and a standard 52mm petrol gauge. My association with Ford is that I have a 1978 Marlin Berlinetta kit car based on a Ford Cortina, and fitted with a 2.0 litre Pinto/DCOE45's. The existing Ford sender does not match the Smiths gauge . I am prepared to buy new if necessary, but any help will be appreciated.
Paul.

If you measure the resistance of the sender in the car, the gauge can be adjusted to suit.

Thank you Tabetha, but my two Smiths fuel gauges don't have the slots on the back for adjustment.

No, they need sending back to factory, don't know what the cost is though.
