on the golf gt tdi forums, there is a 800/900 and 1000 mpt (miles per tank) club...

I can get nearly 60mpg on a good run in my unmodded 110 gt tdi, but a chap at work has just had his gt tdi 130 remapped and says he gets 60mpg even when doing 90/100 down the motorway..

For the people getting 800+ to a tank, they need be averaging 80+mpg

Does a remap make that much difference?

my van gets from blackpool to devon on half a tank, it only holds Ł35

and thats before we map it

our remaps can give up to 20% better fuel economy, depending on driving style

I got 51.0 over 416 miles, including Glasgow rush hour followed by a run to Milton Keynes in a Mercedes C220 Sport Auto and thought that was pretty good.

The smart diesel is officially the most efficient production car with 85mpg and 88g/km. The new version gets 9% more power (54hp!)

I've got a Mk5 Golf GT 140, it's been mapped and it only just got 500 to the tank, and I hardly booted it! That right?

About 41mpg I think??

Driven as if by the stig it did 43mpg average across the whole tank of fuel

Regularly creeps into the 50s on the motorway though

http://www.fuel-economy.co.uk/stats.shtml octavias not up there so an average of 77mpg sounds unlikely

Stu H - My Octavia tdi 110 (same engine as yours) was remapped and after being remapped the fuel computer used to over read quite a lot. My average fuel consumption used to be 55mpg before and after the remap (checked the old fashioned way by brim to brim/mileage checking) and prior to the map the computer was fairly accurate. After being mapped the computer used to regularly show 64-68mpg! in fact on the way to the ring in it, it was up to 80mpg at one point!!!

Some vag group cars are affected in this way, some aint i found out.

It did manage to do 35mpg on a 45 minute open pit lane session round Spa circuit in belgium as well, which wasnt bad!!!

Just to add, i got rid off the octavia and have now got a 406 hdi 2.0 LX 110bhp. That on this years spa trip did 975 miles on a tank of fuel with 45 miles still showing - and averaged 59.5mpg, and that was 3 up, full of luggage and red bull! (no track use this year though) - not bad for a 8 year old car with 130k on it.

It does run on anything - curently it has a mixture of biodiesel, cooking oil, a litre of petrol to keep it thin, and some creosote stuff that I found in the shed

Blimey thats amazing for half a tank! I managed to get not much over that on a full tank (62 litres) in a 1.8t passat! Think it was about 530 miles which was really good I thought.

Me bros old seat alhambra 1.9td used to average 46, but his(wifes) 09 tourerag thingy a 3.0tdi only does 18mpg, but is auto and new.
On my old a series engined mini(1969) with a 12G295 I could get 60mpg at a steady 55mph.
Last friday I got 38.8 from the cossie, going from east anglia to scarborough and back.
