Default 400bhp evo 6?

Whats the spec needed for 400bhp in a TME Evo 6? A guy is claiming 398bhp + 360ft/lb from a std engine with boost controller (1.5bar), remap (dunno who), 3" exh and induction kit.

Possible?

If so, I want one

It's possible but i think it'd need cams on the spec below to make those figures.

3" stainless downpipe and decat exhaust
Indunction kit
Walbro fuel pump
remap

Generally remapped Evo 5's and 6's make 350-370bhp and 320-360lbft at around 1.4-1.5 bar on a standard engine and turbo.

Mine made 365bhp/345lbft @ 1.4bar, but the turbo is really on its knees at that level, to be fair little gains are to be made with more boost.

The general rule of thumb is anything over 350lbft is pushing your luck, theyre pretty shite as standard really

Thumbs up

just got my evo 6 tm remapped at pj motorsport
it made 410bhp and 350 torque peaked at 1.8 bar
to get it to this i put arp rod bolts in, blitz air filter, walbro fuel pump, 3inch hks exhaust with de cat blitz boost controller, hks bigger intercooler. engines done 45,000 miles nice power with nearly no lag for more power the evo 9 turbo is meant to be the one to have. all internals are meant to be good till around the 450bhp

still missing the 500bhp 3 door

^^^^ Agree totally, mine made 371bhp/361ft/lb @ 1.6bar on Autronic ECU when Sheady mapped it etc....makes a great road car too at this level.......

Have you got a power graph to show this please? I'd be very interested to see it as ive never seen a standard Evo 6 turbo ran that high before

standard evo 6 internals good for 450bhp???? not for very long lol. Standard crank and pistons are fairly strong but the rods are not. and the standard tubby just would not flow that much air. realistic figures for a standard 6 lump in that state of tune should be about 360bhp and similar torque. if pj have given you advice/info like you've stated above i can understand why there not heard of in the evo scene lol

Go see a tuner who actually knows their evos and wont give you inflated power figures. MADevelopments would be my first choice but there are lots of others. norris designs, NR autosport, rg motorsport, APT etc etc

No fuel pump upgrade? The pumps tend to lock out WELL before that power output...

Oh and from experience, the TME turbochargers tend to spit the exhaust wheel off the turbo when tuned...

Because its a lightweight wheel designed for fast spool up, it's spot welded onto the shaft and it tends to fail when pushed hard...

And i've personally never seen a TME make power like that on that boost

Sorry yeah he said he had walbro fuel pump too. Reason I asked is cos I thought it monumental power for what is a std engine!

One thing I didnt mention is it went pop

a std yb will make more than that with a simple turbo swap

yep, rods and crank are good for 600+ bhp,

a completly std engine with a t38 will make 400 bhp, a t4 slightly more

Are there any other engines you can think of James, that are like the YB in terms of tuning ie easy to get good power out of without opening the engine and changing much?

Not looking to piss on your bonfire fella but that hub dyno at PJ's is a little optimistic IMO. My 3 door apparantly made 410 bhp on a t34.48 at only 26 psi. I'm sure yours is a nice motor, and as long as it goes well on the road and you like it that's all that matters.

Honda engines are pretty good IMO, most will do double there standard power or more without opening the engine, including stock cams etc.
