What car?
Normally it's down to not having or not having adequete cold air ducting so the engine breathes in hot air whcih isn't as dense as cold air which costs power

depending on car and induction kit, there can be problems with the MAF sensor.
i think it has something to do with the oil that is used within the filter.

^i indeed it fould the wire of the MAF whcih causes incorrect readings. I run an oiled K&N on my A4 and every few weeks need to clean the MAF with electrical contact cleaner
