Default WTF... Big stereo build in a kit car! Why?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/robin-hood-s7-...d=p3286.c0.m14

Why bother building a small lightweight car, fitting a tuned pinto engine like this

and then spoil it by fitting speakers/subs/amps to it

It just defeats the purpose of the whole car imo

I think your missing the point?

Sure, alot of time has gone into fitting all that Audio equipment, but its defeats the point of buying such a car, only to fit lots of heavy amps and subs. The point of kit cars like that, are to provide "back to basics" fun, and provide fantastic handling due to there LIGHT weight. Adding all that ice makes it heavier, and will ruin its nimbleness.

Its like buying a cosworth, and fitting a 1.2 from a fucking punto.

Shame he cant get seats in straight

does defeat the object of a seven replica. Not like hes going to be able to benefit from the audio system with all the wind and road noise

Man hours means nothing!! just look at all the chav/max power shite where the man hours may be thousands but it doesnt change the fact its a piece of shit!!

If you like tappy italian pieces of shite, then thats fine.

Doesn't mean it would be a better engine for a cosworth though does it?

Surely the purpose of a kit car is that you can build it how you want? It's his car, his taste, his install.

Would still have a decent PTWR and looks like a neat job to me.

exactly my thoughts

Its a bit like having a go at alpine for fitting half a tonne of audio and sound deadening in a brand new lambo or kicker for taking a hummer and fitting a 3 tonne system when it could have been used for offroading.
I am guessing this guy built the seven as some sort of show car

I agree, up to him what he does with it, its his car!! Its not as if the new owner can't rip it out if he so pleases.

It's also not that much ICE, and maybe the guy's skinny and wants to get some weight over the back end.

The S7 iirc is a stainless steel Monocoque and not a box section space frame so not that light anyway, and the S7 from what i have read wasn't that good a handling car anyway and is better suited as a cruiser than a tract toy so filling it with ICE is ok with one of these.

Not at all... Apline build those cars as advertising, look at me status, one upmanship, to show what they can do, they need big flash modern cars like that, otherwise nobody would pay attention.

This guys paid a company to fit a decent bit of stereo kit into a small lightweight car, which also has a tuned engine and Toyo 888's, in that kind of car why bother having both of those things as they dont go together imo.

I think the point being made here is, if he wanted creature comforts and so on, he should have bought the type of car for the job. You wouldn't put a Stereo in an F1 car.

At newark kit car show years ago there was a Quantum i think that had a full Rockford Fosgate install, he had dynamatted the whole car and basically built the car around the install. Was very well put together and sounded good.

I think this is original and well done but pointless above 50mph!

The subs are JL 8w3's (the old, and best ones) infact they may even be 6's hard to tell from the angle, so not even heavy, the audison amp is lightweight, and the comps will sound awesome in that position.

the s7 is not a light weight car in the slightest when it comes to the world of 7 replicas! think they end up weighing in at couple of hundred kilos max lighter than the standard sierra donor car used to build it as they use so much of it. as has already been said they are more for cruising around so good job well done by the look of it

i think it's alright personally, as already mentioned, the purpose of a kit car is pretty much build it how you want it, not how they think you should !!

i was expecting something along the lines of this..

Alpine sinister 6

That, is a bit ott if you ask me. lol.

Yeah I mean if it had a much more powerful, but similar engine, like a YB, the OP's complaint goes out the window - a YB is pretty much the same weight but much more power than the pinto - so no argument no problem.

Anyway, I belong to the camp who have a Cossie with a big heavy bass bin in the boot, but still try and save weight

The McLaren F1 was a lightweight hypercar with 550 BHP/TONNE but it still has a sub in it!

My sub box weighs as much as a light person, okay perhaps a kid but it's still bloody heavy.

You'd come out a cripple after sitting in those seats, more twisted than gary glitter's boyfriend.
But as said, the S7 is a heavy old lump anyway, not really going to affect its already dismall performance
